Final Fantasy XI Official Strategy Guide for PS2 & PC (Spring 2004 Version) Paperback – April 5, 2004

I am waiting for my new copy of this book (can't wait until it gets here)as the old one my boyfriend had has completely fallen apart. This gives lots of helpful information about the world and is a good companion for crafting basics. It has most of the Jobs listed and helpful information within--Though it and the official website are missing a few from the last expansion and if you need info on those the FFXI wiki is great. I'm a guide person myself and my short stint with FFXI last year would have been so much better (and I probably wouldn't have left) if I had it at the time and USED it. I'm getting ready to go back, been researching like crazy the last week while I'm waiting for my disc-set to make it back from outta town (can't believe I left it when I moved lol--at least its getting shipped to me though XD)if you're playing or about too play, this is a great guide to help you. Just remember--Its a 2004 edition, there are changes, mainly to solo-ability and new craftables and the few jobs missing.So happy I get to have my own copy of this XD

Creo que esta guia es una buena herramienta para aquellos que empiezan nuevos en el juego de FF XI. teniendo esta todo lo referente al juego inclullendo mapas y todos los items con explicacion de todo lo que nececita saber para ser un buen jugador. todo biene organizado por secciones en la que es rapido acceder cuando estas apurado en el juego o quieres aberiguar algo lo mas rapido posible. biene detallado todo sobre cada raza de el juego y muchos de los "Queses" y "misiones". en fin si eres un jugador nuevo o no tan nuevo y nesecitas informacion de cualquier tipo ahi se puede encontrar. salu2s Bryan

First I want to say I started on this game without the guide played it for awhile did a few quests and got bored of it. I decided to buy the guide. After getting the guide and using it to complete missions and more quests, and learning where everything was, I got hooked on the game. This guide will enhance the enjoyment of the game. The one reason I give it four stars is because there are some flaws but it seems like all guides have some sort of flaw. I noticed one flaw was for the command macro for summoner for realeasing your summons it doesn't tell you to put the command <me> in I set this macro up and couldn't figure what I was doing wrong till a friend asked if I put the command to cast it on myself. I realized that was the problem but the command wasn't in the book. But this is really a minor flaw, and you will want to create your own macros anyway and just use the book as a basis for creating your own macros. Now the other problem with this book is its outdated because I have already come across two quests not found in the book and more new will follow once I get the newest expansion Chains of Permethia. I can't wait to get the new guide. If you are just starting out on this game then get this guide if not wait for the next guide which I hope comes soon. This guide really helps make the game more fun, I was totally lost without it. Coarse there are websites you can go to to help you do the quests but it kinda bites having to look at your pc and play the game at the same time, and you can't do this if your playing FFXI on your pc.

Books are awesome if you need help in a area in the game

Due to the sheer amount of things to do,places to go, people to see, and regular updates it would be impossible to provide a guide to everything this stunning game has to offer. So here is a guide to the core of the game. All the character jobs are listed, along with a brief guide on the jobs particular pro's and cons. This guide is probably best for relative newcomers to the game, you get detailed walkthroughs for the missions in the game which keep the story flowing nicely ( a rarity in MMorpg so i beleive!), and most of the quests for the 4 cities of Windurst,Sandoria,Bastok and Jeuno.This book has been invaluable in beginning the game, but you'll find that the best way to learn is by talking to others!! however if the book was updated with the Additional "Chains of Promathia" content i wouldnt hesitate buying it again!

writing a strategy guide for online games can be very difficult, although great for the company producing the books as they will get more money from re-releases and updated versions, it does however get out of date quite quickly, especially if a patch is introduced or new updates regarding some features, since MMORPGs are continously updating themselves based on the clients.This book is very detailed and provides all the information you require on jobs, classes, hunt locations, areas to go and how to kill certain bosses, it covers a wide area of items and techniques used in the trade. Its a great companion to the game and will get beginners started, it also provides brief tutorials on how to get to a certain level and the places to go to achieve that, since the game is growing fast and players are reaching higher levels, it may be difficult for new players to enter the game due to this factor.This book will make sure that you get to an adaquate level so that you can be a great companion to other players in their hunts and accomplishments.Great book but it does get out of date quite quickly, this book is ideally for the newbie's entering the game apposed to the intermediate and experts who may find their memory and experiences alot better than this published material.
