Mesa Tactical SureShell® Polymer Carrier for Remington (6-Shell, 12-GA)

Just installed on my 870, I believe this also fits the 1187, so I may end up buying a second one.Simple install. You knock out your 2 trigger group pins and replace the rear one with the stainless 'stand out', the front one gets replaced with a chicago screw. They give you more parts than you need for a typical 870 install. You'll want some blue locktite.Shotgun shell retention is *excellent*. Mesa is using a pair of high-quality small rubber hoses that are weaved through each holder to keep your shells from sliding out. Attaching a pic so you can see what I'm talking about.They include an extra set of even more rigid ones if you want even more retention for some reason. They also offer to send you new ones for free if you ever need more. I wanted to point out that they do NOT recommend storing your shotgun shells in these long-term because it will eventually cause the hoses to 'take a set' which may impact your shell retention. I bought this to replace a fabric butt stock version from another brand that was pretty much wasted from just sitting around... shell retention was totally shot...I'm going to ignore the advice about long-term storage because this is on my HD shotgun, not a duty weapon and it will have ammo onboard at all times. I'll update the review if I end up with issues doing this.As with all systems that install like this one does, you'll end up with needing to store your original factory parts in case you ever need to go back to factory config.I'm also left handed, and even though I would have preferred a version that attaches to the right side of the receiver, there are zero problems with this because that first shell can be seated a little higher in the holder so it does not block the trigger at all. The manual that comes with this is also outstanding, especially considering so many of their competitors wouldn't even include one, to begin with... This is a high-quality company.

As stated by many buyers and not corrected by Amazon because they don't care. The item pictured with Velcro as an attachment is not what you are getting. This one is of quality and bolts to the receiver. I should have read the reviews, did not think I had too because I own MESA products.Correct this if you care enough Amazon!

I have my 870 cerakoted and the provided gasket works very well. This was on my Amazon wishlist for 2yrs and the price finally dropped to $25. I had to pick one up, I only regret not buying two!An extra set of white elastomer inserts are provided.FREE REPLACEMENT ELASTOMERS ARE AVAILABLE FROM MESA TACTICAL AS NEEDED... Very niceEDIT: reading some of the other reviews, I did have trouble as well using the provided Allens. This did not concern me since I have a toolbox drawer full of Allens. I don't remember which size it was but I'll post it here if I come across it again.UPDATE: WARNING!!! I have found that with the Knoxx Blackhawk gen 2 hardware, causes a SHORT-STROKE with the foregrip! It must be ground down to fully cycle.

The Mesa Tactical SureShell Polymer Carrier for Remington (6-Shell, 12-GA) was easy to install and holds the shells securely, it also includes an additional rubber strip, what for I'm not sure, I keep an assortment of rounds in my Mesa Tactical SureShell Polymer Carrier for Remington (6-Shell, 12-GA) Read: 12-Gauge, not 10, or 20.I have never dropped my weapon so I can only attest to the durability of longevity. I enjoy 3-gun competition.

Had to return. I have a factory model Remington 870 express 12 ga and the forend hit the shell holder making the gun not functional. Had to return the holder. It states in the instructions that you might have to trim the forearm!!! Trim is an understatement it would of had to be replaced with a shorter forearm. This is NOT listed in the description on the selling page. In addition the rubber inserts are not made to store shells long term. They recommend not storing shells in the holder. How Useless is that for a home defense gun!! If ever needed I want a gun that is fully stocked with ammo!!

This side saddle is excellent. A lot of people complained about how tight it holds shells. The instructions tell you to do a twist-and-pull motion to extract the shells in one smooth motion. It works really well. If I ever do have trouble getting the shells out, I simply push the shell with my thumb or index finger and then it is really easy to pull the shell out the rest of the way. It does hold shells securely, so you’ll never worry about shells dropping. I highly recommend this side saddle!

Great product, but...., but the pictures show a mix of hook & loop attachment and Chicago screw attachment. I'm sure they have confused some folks.

I could not rack the slide on my Rem 870 pump, so I sent it back. I would have kept it otherwise. It seemed very sturdy and well made. Mine came with extra rubber retaining rubber pieces. I bought it with Amazon Prime and sending it back was a breeze. I got a code from Amazon and dropped it at my local UPS store "as is" without repackaging it. Got my refund confirmation later that eve.
