Dometic CFX Electric Cooler | Portable Freezer | CFX5 & CFX3 Series | AC/DC or Solar Powered

This cooler is awesome. Excellent for traveling if you can connect to your vehicles ac plugs. We drive in and around town with no worries anymore on cold items becoming compromised. Driving back and forth to Florida from North Carolina, no ice issues or worried about any food being comprehend you get to your destination whether a resort or home. Keeps everything at the set temp of 36 degrees. Great investment. You cannot even here it running.

I thought mine was completely DOA. When plugging it into AC the screen would flash the dometic logo for a moment then turn off. Hitting the power button did nothing, neither did holding it down. I assumed it was totally DOA but I'm persistent. I've been able to get it to turn on by really mashing it a bunch of times and it seems to work fine from there until it's turned off again. The instruction manual say to just press the power button and doesn't really say anything else about it. There's a bunch of bluetooth crap in there so maybe it needs time to boot up or something and just holds a blank screen for 45 seconds instead of a visual indicator saying that it's booting up. I'll mess around with it some more later to see if I can figure anything out, hopefully it's just a major oversight in their UI design and not a hardware issue. If there's no obvious pattern to it and it's actually a broken button I'm going to return it. I'll update the review later with what I find, but 1 star for now. Edit: Tested it out and it's definitely broken. Plugging into AC and waiting 3 mins before hitting power to give the electronics time to wake up did nothing. Hitting power and waiting 3 mins also did nothing. Holding the button down, double tapping it, none of that made a difference. Only way to get it to turn on was to just wail on the button a bunch of times for 20 seconds. Seems like an electronics issue and based on other reviews it looks like it's pretty common. Who knows how long I'll be able to get it to turn on so I returned it. Update #2 I bought another one straight from Dometic and it showed up with the same issue but worse. On the new one I could still get it to turn on by wailing on the button, but the temperature controls were bugged. Trying to change the temp would just set it to 1 degree f and pressing the up and down arrow keys glitched the screen. Now I have to return that one too. They have some serious issues to work out on these.

Works great, cools fast, gets cold. Single zone but can make little ice cubes. Surprisingly heavy, enough to think twice before taking it from the storage shelf. Once it's loaded it's definitely a two-person schlep to the car. Paired it with a backup battery, and it works great. Don't have to buy ice anymore, and can eat healthy food purchased in normal quantities at longer intervals while traveling. Suits my needs but you might consider a two-zone model if you need to both cool and freeze.

May 14, 2026. 50 day, 19000 mile trip from desert SW USA, up PAC coast into BC and Yukon Canada, into Alaska (Dalton HWY, Anchorage, Kenai) kept food cold on 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 using continuous 12VDC cigarette lighter power. Installed under foldup sleeping bed, when the compressor cycled on, very quiet.

Bought this for my husband at the farm to keep drink at a frosty level in Bama heat. Perfect color & size! We keep it right at 32 & drinks a ready & frosty!

DO NOT ORDER ONE OF THESE PIECES,OF CRAP! I bought the CFX5 55 unit, and when I plugged it into AC and set temp, it did absolutely nothing! I could hear the unit running, but temp never changed. Checked power fuse and it was in working condition. $1300 for what amounts to an overpriced ice chest! I had to buy ice and put in it to keep my food from spoiling. PIECE OF JUNK! And just try to reach Dometic or Amazon to get it replaced…not gonna happen.

I use for transportation food from home to campground

We travel from Bham to Key West with my dog a lot. We also travel in our boat. We plug in our car and hotels She only eats Maev. Human grade food frozen. Has to stay FROZEN. Love love Freezer. We were doing dry ice.

Stolzer Preis, bei Lieferung keine Funktion, Gerät kaputt. Einmeldung und Reaktion dauert zu lange, man wird bei Dometic von einer zu anderen Abteilung weitergereicht. Wollte das Gerät für unseren Urlaub verwenden, Dometic kann auch kein Ersatzgerät liefern, da Lagerstand geleert. Eindeutig nur einen Stern und "nie mehr".
