This is an excellent drive for PS3 upgrade
This is an excellent drive for PS3 upgrade. I upgraded my 150 gig to this monster no problem. First you need a Fat32 drive or something big enough to backup your PS3. I used a Storite 300 gig fat 32 drive for backup. The PS3 backup under System settings may take 2 or 3 times to get started right but plug the Storite into your PC and delete the folders on it and start over. Once backup is done, pull the power on the PS3 and On the bottom of the slim PS3 is one screw that holds a front facing faceplate that has the drive caddy under it. Pull the caddy out, bend tabs back to get drive out. Put new one in, bend caddy tabs back in. Once you start the PS3 backup your going to need 2 things. A small flash drive with fat32 format and a controller with usb cable to plug into the PS3. Make sure the USB drive is empty, then put one folder on it called UPGRADE, then inside that folder make another folder called PS3, then get the update software from Sony, just google PS3 update software and download it directly to the PS3 folder on your USB drive. Then plug the usb into the PS3 on the other usb port while your controller is plugged into the other, press start and select at the same time. Once it sees the software update it will update the ps3, format your new drive if it wants, then either restart or ask you to do it. DO not interrupt the software update. Once the PS3 boots, update the time and settings, then go to System settings and under backup is the Restore setting. Hit restore wait until done and your set! New drive will be full of your games. Sync trophies once done to restore them.

Great for PS3
Used this as a PS3 HDD upgrade. Has worked beautifully. Just slightly slower than a solid-state HDD I had in previously, but great performance nonetheless. As of right now, 1.5TB is the maximum size HDD that PS3 will recognize. This is a great choice for this purpose.

I'm not really that avid a PC Gamer but I can't resist a good Steam, Origin or GOG sale and needless to ...
Originally purchased for my PS4. Worked well and call me crazy but feel it was faster than my current 2TB I have in my PS4 now, this HDD now serves my Win 10 Laptop. Now, I'm not really that avid a PC Gamer but I can't resist a good Steam, Origin or GOG sale and needless to say my library of PC games has expanded since my WoW/ Blizzard days (roughly 5 years ago) So needless to say I am happy I can accomodate all my games and other stuff plus have a great deal of space since my needs have expanded (Damn you Steam.) Seriously though, before this and my new laptop I had 640GB in my last laptop and that sufficed well alongside my 250GB External. Anyways, whether for PS4 or a PC/Laptop, this thing is great and works pretty darn fast for a non SSD drive.

Failed to work on my fat 60GB console
I purchased this for my 60GB fat PS3 with cfw (rebug 4.82) as 1.5TB is the maximum internal HDD capacity for a PlayStation 3. It formated and functioned properly in the console about 4 out of 5 start-ups. About every 5th start-up I would get an error stating "can not start appropriate system storage not found". I tried numerous things including reseating the drive a full complete format rebuilding the database ect, and nothing made the hard drive boot with 100% success rate. To be fair I switched back to Sony firmware and had the same issues. Then I re-installed my oem 60gb HDD that came in the system and the PS3 went back to booting with 100% success rate with absolutely no errors. I'm sure the drive is functional and works as it should just for some reason does not want to work for my intended purpose. Guess I will buy an external enclosure and use it as mobile storage.

I bought this for my PS3 and it works
So I didn't want to deal with hacking a 2TB drive to make it work on my PS3. I bought this one for my PS3 instead since this was the most common alternative (1.75tb was the preferred). It works well and I've installed a lot of games and the performance was satisfactory. I'm glad this was the one that was not defective unlike the other 2tb drive I bought at the same time as this.

Great Buy
I had a failing 1TB Seagate (Lasted me 3 years) and needed an upgrade quick. I saw this along with it's cheap price ($68 bucks!) and thought it would be a great upgrade to my laptop. Format took about an hour and a half. Ran some random access tests that came back clean. Backed up my old drive. Finally, ready to use. I'm using this internally along with my SSD for my OS. I'm constantly writing to it as I like to archive alot of different things. I'll report back in a few months.

PS4 UPGRADE EXPERIENCE
Used to upgrade PS4 storage. Follow online instructions and it's simple.NOTES: This drive will sit upside down compared to the stock PS4 HDD. Don't panic, just flip it over, align the four side screws and gently insert it back into the bay. There is an I/O port on this drive that doesn't have a corresponding port in the PS4 (top left). Don't worry it works regardless.Take your time, be gentle and don't force anything. Follow the online guide to back up your save files and install the firmware from a USB stick.Download your games and save files and the process is complete.

Hard Drive, Easy Choice
Normally I'd have a lot to say about a product, especially after all the research I put into deciding if this was the product I needed. I'll nutshell it instead:- THIS IS THE MAX STORAGE A PS3 SUPPORTS - I was looking into getting the 2TB, all research and reports say 1.5TB> won't be recognised.- 105 digital PS3 games (most are PS+), 29 physical PS3,12 PS1 games installed. The HDD shows 884GB space still available.- You're going to need to use a USB to install the OS (v4.82 at time of writing). My first 1GB USB wouldn't recognise even though it was formatted twice on PC to both FAT32 and exFAT. My other USB was fine using exFAT. I could only determine the problem being the age/model of the USB itself. If you are looking for a replacement HDD for your PS3 then buy this one. You won't need to worry about having to delete games! Tbh 1.5TB is probably a little overkill. 1TB is probably adequate enough if you've a large(ish) collection but on a budget.I'm trying to extend the lifespan of my old console/Blu-ray player by replacing the Holy Trinity: Thermal Paste (Arctic Silver 5), 1.5TB HDD and optical disc drive (KES-450 AAA). This product, put simply, works as intended.

PS4 upgrade
Bought as a PS4 upgrade! Easy to install if your following instructions as per Sony's website for new hard-drive installs. Make sure to download the 900mb file and not the 300mb file for the system software. The 300mb is to upgrade an already installed software, the 900gb is for completely new installs!Given me tonnes of space to keep my multiplayer games installed instead of having to uninstall them every time a new game comes out to free space

Works on PS3/ps4/ps5 PC LAPTOP flawlessly
Use this for my ps3 on a jailbreak with rebug and multiman etc and works flawlessly and gives me full disc storage. I can now put on hundreds of games on this now without using external hard drive. Works for ps3 and windows and ps4. Just over priced for hard drive these days but had to pay for it to see if it would work for ps3. Tried 2tb and definitely don't work on ps3 so don't waste your time this is the highest storage for ps3 guys.
