Great Control that's Plug-n-Play with Windows 10
I've used a Griffin Technology control since 2011 and with my recent upgrade to my second Windows 10 computer the thing would constantly flake out requiring it to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to work. This is a good replacement for it and it's 100% plug-n-play with Windows 10.The black box feels heavy and is made of metal with rubber feet to hold it securely in place. There's a standard USB to mini-USB knit cloth cord included. In the hand the aluminum knob is comfortable and there's a fine click between each 5 degrees or so of movement. On my machine I get an indication as Windows displays the volume controls action with nice window showing the volume number and a bar. Tapping the top of the knob mutes the volume and tapping it again or changing the volume up or down restores the audio.

Great volume knob.
Exactly what I needed. I wanted a remote volume knob for my raspberry pi arcade unit and this provides me exactly what I needed. (I did need to setup some software to make it work, but that was easy enough.) When I tested it on Windows, Mac OSX and Ubuntu Linux it worked out of the box, my raspbian install just needed a few tweaks but all the signals were being correctly input. Also, the build quality of this is awesome. Solid metal housing and dial. Could not ask for more. The blue LED does go out when not changing volume. So its only on temporarily.

This saved my sanity
I recently bought an unusual 'unifying' keyboard/mouse where the volume and mute keys were combinations - hold this while clicking that. When a call came in, I was fumbling to find the key combination. This volume control is right there on my desktop - tap the volume and it mutes. btw, I retired that darn Logitech K850 keyboard - the key layout was not to my liking. But I've kept the volume control - it's too easy to use.

My Griffith became non-functional under the last update to Win 10
I like the functionality of the Griffith and when it stopped working, found replacements on AMZ and picked this one. Works great and now I have compatibility with WIN 10, something the Griffith didn't after WIN7. The convenience of using a actual vol control verses looking for a key on my keyboard is great. Well worth it.

Overpriced and potentially dangerous
I ordered two of these USB volume knobs for a project. Out of the box they seemed decent enough, though one was rattling slightly. I popped the case open to see what might be loose, and found two strips of self adhesive wheel weights inside, one of which was loose and wedged up against the (unprotected) backside of the PCB. There was no protection whatsoever, not even a piece of cardboard between the weights and the circuit board. The unfortunate reviewer who lost a motherboard and a PCI-E USB card likely fell victim to this lack of quality construction. That said, once I removed the weights from both units they work well enough, on both a Win10 and Debian Linux pc. Just be advised of the potential for short cIrcuits from loose internal weights, and also be aware the PCB is not mounted to anything apart from the nut securing the potentiometer to the case, it just floats free, so be careful plugging in the USB-C cable. The installed bumpons were of good quality, for what it's worth.

Pricey but very nice quality.
This device has good weight and feels like a knob on a high-end studio mixing board. It does not come with instructions though. You can press down on the knob and it works as a mute button. If you hold it down for about 6 seconds the blue led will turn off and stay off.

I Just got it and hooked it up works great. I wish they would have included English instructions
I Just got it and hooked it up works great. I wish they would have included English instructions.Beyond the basics of controlling the volume and mute. You can put the controller into high speed mode by pressing the knob 6 times. This will allow the controller to go from 0 to 100% in one rotation. You can also put it into night mode by holding the knob down for 8 seconds. This will cause the LED to stay on all the time but at about 50% intensity. When changing the volume, it will brighten back up to 100%.I did take the board out of the case and installed it into the front panel of my case. I noticed there is also a series of unpopulated dip switches on the board and a listing of different modes to put the controller into with these switches. I may just have to see about getting and soldering the switches on and see what happens.
