Heavier than older ones
The hose is different than the older ones and I didn’t like it as much as the originals had. Also, the handle gets pretty warm while running and it wasn’t even running that long when it got that way. It sucks like Oreck is supposed to, but between the heft and the warm handle, it is so-so.

Great suction!
This is probably my third purchase over last 20 years (the second one I gave to my parents). I have had many other upright vacs but always come back to Oreck canister vac. It has great suction, and is light weight. I love the shoulder strap and having the different vacuum heads/tools attached to the back of the canister is really convenient. I can quickly move through vacuuming the floors, ceilings, window sills, lamp shades with ease. This canister vac can also be used as a blower. This came in handy when I needed to blow up an air mattress. One caveat is that while you are vacuuming, the blower is blowing around any dirt or dust behind you that is in the blowers path. It’s pretty loud, but I don’t mind. As long as it works well, and it does. I love the brush attachment for vacuuming lampshades, walls, curtains, and air vents. The floor vac head has a switch to move from floor to carpet. To which it works well on a couple area rugs I have. It has a smaller head that I like to use for my dog beds. It also has a narrow head that can get into little nooks, and is great for car (especially seats and hard to reach areas. There is an attachment for the blower as well. If you add both Hose extensions, it should be fairly comfortable for a taller person to use. I am only 5’1”. I only needed a step stool to vacuum sky lights in my house. It gives me the reach I need to clean my Regular 9’ ceiling without the need for a stool or stepping on my tippy toes. My only complaint is I wish it had a HEPA filter but the bags are pretty good at filtering dust. All in all, I am pleased with this vacuum. The one I gave to my parents is at least 10 yrs old and going strong.

Hose doesn’t last
I bought an oreck upright and handheld in 2004. They both work great. Then I bought my son a handheld in November, 2017. I did replace the 2004 handheld hose in 2018. I figured it would last at least 10 years. It lasted 6 months. So I replaced it. Totally disappointed in Oreck. Then my sons hose needed replaced. I will never buy another handheld unless they guarantee the hose for at least a few years.

I bought one of these years ago and absolutly loved it. New version is inferior.
I was disappointed to find the newer version (my other is very old and although it still works, my favorite attachment keeps falling off because it got a crack and broke where it attaches. So, I was delighted to see they still make them. However, after putting it together, it didn't have the same wonderful handling feel. Then, I noticed the flexible hose part is only about a third of the length of my first one (and a different type) although it stretches out some but still not like the other long, long flexible length, so you have to add the stiff, hard extensions and they are awkward without the flexibility of that long hose. The other difference is that they cheapened the shoulder strap. A quick glance and you might not notice but it didn't have the same level of comfort on my shoulder and on closer examination, I observed the material is not quite as thick and not quite as broad. You might think that that tiny change would go un-noticed, but I noticed that it was not as comfortable right off. They should actually have improved it instead making it a bit thicker and wider than the last one instead of cheapening it. I'm hoping I get better used to it, but still remember the wonder initial feel of my first one which this doesn't have. I do not know yet about the internal workings and if it will last like my first one.

It's a great machine
We had the original oreck xl for over 10 years and it owed us nothing when the on/off switch died. The super delux is a much improved product. It's a little lighter in weight and much more powerful, and also can work as a blower. The original used to be advertised as being able to lift an 8 lb bowling ball, the super delux is advertised as being able to lift 16 lbs. I believe it. Best of all is that my wife loves it, and thinks I made a great buy.

Lean, mean dust machine
I wanted a lightweight, handheld vacuum that didn’t have to be charged. This one is perfect. It’s powerful and will grab anything in its reach so go slow and careful. This bad boy is awesome. It has a LONG cord and I can vacuum my stairs from the hall plug in. It blows a lot of air from the rear of the machine so watch your flower pots or you will launch your flowers into space. Yes, this vacuum is that powerful!! It takes bags and I like that. The bags are hypoallergenic and I don’t get dust from my vacuum. They hold a lot of debris and are inexpensive. I bought several to have on hand because I reach for this one instead of the big vacuum.I have owned several chargeable vacuums and they last about 15 to 30 minutes and the battery always wears out. Buy the one with the cord, save your money and get the job done. This is one sturdy, reliable little machine.?

Must have for hardwood floors and pet hair.
If you have pets that shed, hardwood floors and you dont have time, money or energy for a big fancy vacuum this is for you. I have a 130lb rottweiler that sheds a ton. This vacuum was exactly what I needed. I recently had back surgery so lugging around a big vaccuum is not an option. I looked into the cordless fancy vacuums that are hundreds of dollars that only had descent reviews for pet hair and decided agsinst them. Glad i did. This vaccum is easy to carry and it easily picks up hair, even in the corners and hard to reach areas. Only con is that the extension tube does not securely fasten to the vacuum handle. The simple solution i used was simple. I taped them together with black electrical tape. Now it never come apart.

Vacuum was delivered one day early and is up to the quality of all our previous vacuums. Would buy again.
