AFG Sport 5.5AT Electric Folding Treadmill

My wife uses a treadmill everyday so most of these remarks are attributable to her observations.First, I suggest you make certain you are reading the right directions in the provided manual. They saved money by including several treadmill models in their instruction manual and they refer to some parts that don't even go with other models. This particular model (the 5.5AT) seems simpler that the other models and required the insertion of 12 bolts to put it together: 3 at the top, 3 at the bottom on each side. Wrenches are provide so you need no tools. Snap the console connector in place and you are good to go. Two screws at the back of the walking tread are loosened and you lift the band to spread the lubricate. I've had other treadmills and suggest you add this lubricant periodically.Features I liked: 1- The motor is exceptionally quite. Even at higher speeds it doesn't sound louder. It is quite a noticeable difference over my previous treadmill. 2- I like the lowering assistance feature. Simple push the small piston beneath the platform and it lowers itself. The platform isn't particularly heavy so my wife can store it easily. 3-It has built in speakers and earphone connections if you want privacy. The sound is quite adequate and works well with ipods or ipads.Features my wife likes: 1-Two people can have the weight programmed at once so if you are using a particular program it's easy to use just yours. 2- Raising the platform or adjusting the speed is quite easy. You don't have to scroll through a variety of levels until you get to the one you like. Want to go from 2 to 5? Push level 5....easy enough. 3- The unit has a built-in fan... it won't blow you away, but it gives you enough to help, and it isn't loud either. 4- Programs are easy to get to with speeds and elevation automatically adjusted. This is a nice feature if you don't just want to walk or run at a steady pace. We haven't worked through all the programs so I can't attest to their difficulty.So-So issues: 1- The platform doesn't have any "give" giving the platform a harder surface. My previous treadmill seemed to have some boucey-ness to it as you walked or ran. 2-The unit is narrow. For some users that will be great, especially if you are in an apartment or small workout space. Our previous unit was simply larger and we were use to it. 3- The support arms are a bit short, about 12 inches to be exact. Again, not a real problem but it doesn't give you much to hold on to. 4- Poorly written instructions. Considering the quality of this machine, I likely would have rated it higher if the instructions would have been clearer and more precise. Overall, I think this is a nice unit, especially for smaller workout areas.FOLLOW-UP: After using this until for about three months, it has suddenly acquired an obnoxious squeak in the platform. At first I thought the belt needed tightening....and then I tried lubricating everywhere that seemed a possible source. No luck. The squeak is still there. Glad I don't use this everyday... it would drive me crazy.

The heart monitor has worked 3 times since purchase. However the BEEP function is alive and well. You can not stop this from beeping. Loud and often. Everything you do causes at least one beep and usually 3 BEEPS. Did I mention that this beeps all the time? Last problem, the on off switch is on the base, hard to see and harder to find, and it beeps! I can live (?) w/o the heart monitor but the constant beeping is a supreme annoyance. I would love to be able to turn it off. I do not need 3 beeps to warn me that I just increased/decreased the speed by one increment.

I have been researching Treadmills for months and months trying to locate a treadmill that will function for my needs, be sturdy, compact, quiet and most of all, affordable. I don't have time to go to a gym with my schedule so having a treadmill in my house is just the type of exercise that allows me a good workout without the travel time to a gym. I came upon this treadmill, initially, based on the price, but after reading all 25 reviews, I was convinced that this was the treadmill for me. All of the reviews were positive with the exception of one which stated the treadmill was too noisy. Besides the reviews, the price was very attractive, so I took the plunge. The treadmill was delivered and brought into my house by the nicest delivery ladies, as described in the product summary. I took advantage of the free assembly that was offered, which saved $$$, but more importantly, something like a treadmill, I did not want to take a chance of faulty assembly, possibly leading to an injury. Communication about the shipping and delivery of the treadmill were spot on. I knew, every step of the way, where the treadmill was and when to expect the delivery. Then, 'Great Service' stayed in touch with me to schedule the assembly the same day of my delivery. Everything went so smoothly that I couldn't be happier. Yesterday was the first day that I did a true workout on the treadmill and it was awesome. I got a great workout, the treadmill was so quiet and smooth. I highly recommend this treadmill and the company Great Service for assembly.

What I like about treadmill, so far:1) It's pretty quiet - seems really quiet especially when it's just running and you aren't on it too :D2) The built-in fan is small and not very powerful, but it is handy when you start working up a sweat - highly recommend turning on ceiling fan or standing rotating fan or something3) handrail is convenient for storing 2 lb handbells4) drink holder is big enough for 16 oz Zephyrhills water bottle5) long treadmill so you can do long stretch-like walks (I'm 5'7")6) Wide treadmill to do criss-cross side walking7) Several variations to use - but I stick to the manual operations, set by time duration8) The price!Everything has been great so far.What could be better:1) can't increase time if you've already started your workout.2) the heart rate is definitely off - per pulse taking and fitbit reading

My wife and I have been using the treadmill for about a month and are very happy with it. The assembly instructions were very easy to follow and assembling the treadmill took less then 30 minutes. The treadmill works as advertised, the motor is quite and the walking/running surface is nice and wide. My wife is using one of the programmed workouts and she absolutely loves it. I really like all the options it comes with like the fan and speakers. I plug my I-Pad into the speakers using the adapter that comes with with the treadmill and watch Netflix while I workout.If you are going to assemble the treadmill yourself, just keep in mind that you will need to lubricate it prior to using it. The instructions for lubrcating the treadmill are very easy to follow and the treadmill comes with with enough lubricant for two uses. Also, you will need to lubricate the treadmill after every 150 miles of use.
