Sensational infrared performance
Amazing picture quality day and night. I purchased this to replace my dome camera which had started to fog over when it got dark. I’d had the hikvision dome cameras for 4 years and I though they were good quality. These hikvision turret cameras are amazing! Can not recommend them enough.

Very clear and well made
1st Hikvision for me being a Foscam fan, simple to set up, heavy and well made product, picture is very clear day and night with great IR illumination, the only downside is the unit is a bit big in comparison to the Foscam bullets but i suppose that can a good visual deterrent. I'd recommend this product and seller, wouldnt hesitate to buy another.

Good quality picture
I already have 2 4mp Hikvision camera but wanted to add another to my system. This 5mp camera gives fantastic picture quality. You will need a good connection to get full quality over internet without it being jerky. Not a fault of camera though. Highly recommend.

The standard all IP cams are judged by
You probably seen these types of cameras everywhere in towns as they are employed by loads of businesses and homes. HikVision does generally sell these types of cameras to trade only but you can get them in various places but you need to ensure they are genuine EU not grey import in order to update the all-important firmware.IMHO this is the "gold standard" of IP cameras that are pretty inexpensive for the features and there is little need to buy something else unless you want wireless/WiFi or don't trust far-east companies in high security/privacy setting:- 3-stream IP camera with HEVC/H265 support (the 4K/UHD codec) that reduces stream/file sizes by about 1/2+ vs older AVC/H264 but is supported by most modern hardware.- IR lamp that is offset from camera thus less prone to insects as the ring versions (with IR leds around the camera)- POE (power over ethernet) thus you don't need 2 cables to power the camera just a single ethernet cable. Either use a POE switch or a cheap injector to add power- business-grade firmware that is updated regularly (latest just this month) with loads of features and software to run on your computer/NAS/NVR to record or view cameras just like a "proper" CCTV office.- thus you have plenty of detection options (events), e.g. movement, tampering, line crossing that work well unlike cheap cameras that generate spurious events - and things like privacy zones to blur, etc.- also has micro-SD that can continuously record (128GB tested) best to use a high-endurance one if you decide to do so as you don't want to go up a ladder to change it if it fails.- it's a "proper" IP camera where the firmware contains the features and you are not dependent on a back-end NVR or "cloud" to implement features. Naturally you can do that and just use it for streaming if you want to.- You don't need to use *any* cloud services unless you want to. So you're not dependent at all for HikVision nor do you need to expose the camera to the Internet and can use your own streaming system e.g. from NAS/NVR- Just about all 3rd party camera apps (iOS/Android/NAS) support these camera streams so you don't need to use any HikVision software (save the camera firmware). So no worries random people can see your streams.- But for security you should set up some sort of "cloud" upload from your local video storage, could be anything like OneDrive/GDrive/DropBox if you trust those or similar cloud tech. There are a few minor points to keep in mind:- This version is EOL (end of life) and while supported you may want to get the newer (DarkFighter) versions that should be supported longer and have a bigger sensor. Note mount is different which is a pain.- 5Mpix sensor (denoted by the 1st 5 in model 23*5*5) may not be sufficient for best clarify - if you can get the 8Mpix version I'd say do so. Sadly AZ does not sell that version at this time and buying 3rd party is a bit of a minefield. Try Amazon FR/DE/IT as long as it's WD (world-wide) version/serial number- Note a lot of sellers sell Chinese (CN) version/serial number which can be modded but up to you (G0 not FWD).- Note no microphone and not easy to add one. So if you wanted to listen to sound sadly you cannot. From testing and what I've read I would recommend:- Use highest resolution for clarity and reduce FPS to what you're happy with, 5/8fps should be plenty. Also use the HEVC/H265 codec for reduced bandwidth unless you have no choice.- Use POE unless you can easily run a 2nd cable and have access to power. Not that an injector is expensive.- Decrease exposure as much as you can (1/50-1/150) for clarity at night and compensate with WDL (below)- Increase WDL (dynamic range) to max and perhaps increase contrast if image is washed out.- Decrease noise level to say 20-30 to get more detail at expense of noisier image.- Don't enable H265+ if you want face detection and so on. But if you have a NVR it may be worth it.- Use NFS as SMB/CIFS seems to require (still!) SMB1 which is very old.

Great quality both build and performance.
Amazing cameras from hikvision; having used axis for years at work we swapped to these and given their price point I deployed at home too. I use with the free milestone vms and given the free advanced Analytics like face detection and line crossing they are great value for money. Excellent product.

its an IP camera and needs the corresponding recorder system
I allready had a Hikvision system and this was an additional camera it worked fine.most offerings are 2.8mm lens which gives a wide field of view ,i also bought a 4mm lens that is a narrower field but longer range of view.
