Works perfectly in 2005 Mazda 3 hatchback
2005 Mazda 3 Hatchback with 6 CD changer built inFirmware no. 9.75.39 (on head unit)Using an iPhone 8 via bluetoothI was worried that it might not be compatible with my stereo system (I have the standard 6-cd changer built-in to the head unit with the SAT and TAPE/MD buttons, but without either cassette or mini-disc player built in) and with my firmware. But I had the socket for the external CD changer available on the back available. The documentation calls for firmware "9.55", but I took the chance that my higher numbered firmware would be compatible. I plugged the unit in and it immediately found my iPhone 8 without any trouble and I was streaming music via bluetooth in seconds. I tested the USB outlet out ONLY to see if it charged the phone, and the phone did indicate that it was charging. I have not tried out the AUX port yet, but I would assume that it works as well as the rest of the unit has worked.Audio quality seems to be of CD level clarity and fullness. I am a musician and have recorded music for years. I seem to be detecting some very tiny amount of high frequency "zing" (for lack of a better word) going on only when music is actually playing, but that may simply be my imagination. If it is there. it may only be a minor byproduct of the bluetooth transmission. It is nothing that really affects the quality of sound.I have the unit resting in my glovebox for the moment, with the cable snaked through some gaps in the plastic, though I may attempt to route it elsewhere later.USING iPHONE: While you still maintain control over the volume of the music via the steering wheel and head unit, you do not have the ability to change tracks via head unit and steering wheel. You do this on the iPhone itself. The same goes for the head unit (unless someone can show me differently). I know that some devices have the option of iPod control or controlling tracks from the head unit. I don't believe that the Crux BTS-MZ1 does that. I have not yet tried using a USB stick with it. Apparently this does allow you folder control according to the documentation.Basically, this is a bluetooth AUX input, and you control everything from your iPhone or other device. This has encouraged me to consider purchasing a second Crux unit for my older Toyota 4Runner.

Quick and easy!
- 2005 Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.3L (Standard Spec, no 6-disc changer)- iPhone 7Works great, pairs right up . Super easy install took about 5 minutes. Pop the trim piece off, unscrew two screws with a phillips head. Pull radio out, plug it into open spot on the back. I routed it to the glove box and the wire fits under the trim when I put it back together. I've been needing this for years, so glad I finally got around to it.

Easy install. Works great.
I bought this for a 2004 Mazda 3 as a way an easy inexpensive way to install bluetooth music in the factory stereo. It took all of 4 minutes to install. Pulled the factory radio out, didn't even have to disconnect anything. Plugged the 16 pin connector to the CD port of the radio, put the radio back and ran a USB cable down through the "ashtray". Immediately paired to my phone and connects automatically when I start the car.

Does not work.
Easy install. But the Bluetooth will not stay connected to my iPhone X. Continually drops off. My 2004 Miata isn’t the big and the crux isn’t buried in the dash so signal isn’t blocked. Guess it’s going back.

Works great! 2005 Mazda 3
I now have Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in. Easy to install with no special tools. I just watched a YouTube video to show me how to remove the trim and the 2 screws to remove the head unit. Plug and play. This gives you steering wheel control and higher volume than trying to use an FM modulator. This works and sounds great!

Easy Install and Works Great.
Took me less than 30 minutes to install and connected easily to my S8. I have one of these in my 2004 Mazda 3 and I also have a Crux in my Sequoia. Great product.
