I purchased these for a hike. When I put them on I realized they were a little snug, but thought they would work. I got blisters on both of my little toes and I will be unable to were a closed shoe for a while. Since I wore them, I do not think I can exchange them for a 9 1/2????

Best shoe for Canyoneering
These shoes are not a fashion statement but when it comes to exploring a wet canyon in Zion National Park nothing beats them. Five Ten rubber works great on wet slippery surfaces so that you keep your footing even when walking through flowing water. The downside to them is they dry slowly and are not the most comfortable for long dry hikes but that is not what you are buying them for. These shoes are for getting you through technical canyons where you rely on being able to have stable footing and being able to move easily around. If you want hiking boots, these are not for you, but if you want to go explore Boundary Canyon, the Subway or any of the hundreds of other canyons on the Colorado Plateau then these are the shoes for you.I would suggest buying these with a pair of 5mm or 3mm neoprene socks as well. If you cannot try these on before you order, go a half size larger than your street shoes so that you have room to accommodate the neoprene. You can do without neoprene but I found that the socks help with the fit and prevent blisters plus when the water is cold it keeps your feet warm for a while at least.

I recommend half a size shorter if possible
They are bigger than expected. So, I recommend half a size shorter if possible. They are cool shoes indeed. Perfect for Canyoneering. The down side will always be the stupid watch-like straps that are pretty much useless. And get in the way all the time

Measured feet - exactly a M8US, product arrived and they were about 3/4" too long. Couldn't do them up tight enough to use.The quality and look was good. Ordered another pair in a M7US

Good, but not perfect. (four stars would have been given if there was a narrow model)
Purchased the shoe for a canyoneering trip and it worked well. The canyon was dryer than expected, so I've yet to fully benefit from the gripy properties of the shoe sole on wet surfaces. This is a very wide shoe and unfortunately they don't make narrow sizes. So, I purchased a shoe 1/2 a size larger than normal and wore a three sock combo: first layer was a hiking sock silk, followed by a 2mm neoprene sock, and finally a thin smartwool sock over the top. The three socks were selected for a combination of warmth, dryness, and to fill some of the shoe's volume and it worked fairly well - the hike was mostly flat. Had there been more or steeper descending, my foot would have slid forward in the shoe and jammed by toes.Eventually toward the end of the first day, light silt and sand found its way through the yellow mess across the top of the foot and got trapped. The next morning, I tried getting the silt out but couldn't. It ended up being a good thing because its presence took up some of the shoe's width and I found it held my foot in place much better. Once I got home and cleaned up the shoe, the silt came out, but it has me now wondering if there is some modification I can make to that area to make the better fit more permanent.

Great water hiking shoe
Prefect for hiking in the Narrows at Zion National Park. Good fit with water socks and great grip on slippery river rocks.

Biggest blisters I've ever seen
I rented a pair of these on a canyoneering trip to Zion's National Park recently. On recommendation I got a size up and wore with 2mm neoprene socks. On the approach to Heaps Canyon I could feel the blisters forming on my heels. Absolutely terrible and painful. These boots did grip well, drain well, and with the socks keep my feet warm...but what good are they if you can only wear them in the canyon and not to the canyon. After a day in these my feet look like swiss cheese. I guess I'll stick to approach shoes.
