BestNest Triple-Celled Double Bat House Kit, 500 Bats

For the past few years we have had the occasional few bats attach to our house; this year bought many, many more and attaching to more places on our house. We felt the bats needed their own place and after speaking to and getting some great information from Maryland DNR we lucked upon this kit. We had nothing available locally.The well-packed kit arrived a few days earlier than expected. All parts are well made and the instructions are clear. The hardest part for us was digging the hole as our ground is extensively clay. (Recommended hole size is 18"-20" deep and approx. 6" in diameter. The pole is in four 4' sections: a base pole and 3 telescoping.) After the hole was dug, we placed a brick in the bottom for the base pole to sit on; the base pole in the ground socket (included in the kit) was centered and leveled with a level; quick-set cement was poured to fill to about the top of the hole then topped it off with a mix of some of the dirt/clay and pea gravel; it was left until the cement had completely set. The houses attached easily to the support and then to the pole. When it is all together it is at least a two-person lift. We have had some extremely high winds and heavy rain in our area and this pole has not budged.We erected this near the end of June when the bats had already pretty much left our area. We are now hopeful for their return, and to their own house!

Originally gave it a good review, but now when I put them together to install this spring the top support of one of the houses broke off with almost no effort.
