Silentnight Cooler Summer Mattress Topper, Double

I’ve given this 3 Stars and I haven’t even slept on it yet!! It’s just taken me 50 minutes to make my bed.... I kid you not.The problem? Well, there’s a couple. Firstly the corner straps that are supposed to fit over the mattress are stitched too close to the corners, this means that when you fit the strap over one corner and go to fit the opposite corner strap, the one you’ve just fitted slides off. It just doesn’t grip. It might be ok if there’s two (or even better three) of you making the bed but let’s be honest.... how often does THAT happen.The second problem I encountered was trying to put a fitted sheet on top of it. I couldn’t. Because the topper is quite thick the fitted sheet wouldn’t fit or stay on. My bed is a double bed and I had to use a king size fitted sheet which, now, is probably too loose. I suspect in the morning I’m going to wake in a crumpled mess of a bed surround by a sheet that won’t stay on along with the mattress topper. I now have to go and have a cold shower because of the sweat I built up trying to make my bed.I’ll probably update this review tomorrow after having slept on the mattress COOLER. Whether it will be a better or worse review.... only time will tell.

Bought this to make our bed comfier and cooler.DOES IT STAY PUT?It doesn't travel, I adjust it a little bed when I change the bed but it doesn't travel at night etc, so it stays in place very well. Very please with the straps that go around the mattress corners. Sturdy.DOES IT MAKE THE BED COMFIER?It isn't very thick, and it's very ..breathy so it wasn't like lying down on a massive pillow on top of the bed or anything, but there was an improvement. Our mattress is getting on a bit and you could start to feel the springs a bit, now we don't. And we still don't, after a couple of months use so it hasn't lost its game so far. If you're looking mainly for a topper to make your bed softer maybe look at thicker toppers.DOES IT MAKE THE BED COOLER?Again, not massively so. If it's hot, this won't magically cool you down. But we were waking up drenched in sweat by heat trapped all around us (felt like a microwave) and I haven't done that since getting this topper (except that one night it was 27 degrees Celsius, but I can't blame the topper for that). You will still get hot, but the heat is mitigated a bit and transferred away a bit and makes it bearable. Getting this topper has helped.WORTH BUYING?Yes. This topper isn't a miracle to magically make you cool and comfy at night, but for the price we thought it was a very good deal. I would definitely buy again. It's nice and fluffy, it does what it says it does and you can chuck it in your washing machine easily. Overall I am very very pleased but it could have been a bit thicker for more breathing capabilities and comfy factor.

Comfy, although I like a hard bed, so maybe it's a bit too soft for me. It feels cool initially, but I'm not sure it's any cooler than the mattress, which you don't sink into at all, so is cooler anyway. My mattress is old and lumpy though, so this is a relatively cheap solution. I bought the king size from Amazon, as they didn't have stock of the double and Argos was the only place that had the double and it was a lot more expensive. Funnily enough, the king size fits perfectly, which is odd, because I could have sworn my bed is a double. 52" (~132cm) wide x 78" (~200cm) long. It said it was king size when I ordered it and the packaging says king size. King size is supposed to be 71" wide, which mine clearly isn't. I thought I read that someone else said that it doesn't cover their bed entirely, so perhaps they've got the measurements wrong, or the names are different sizes in different countries, or they're labelled wrongly.

We have a Tempur mattress which is great but being 'of a certain age' , I was finding it very warm at night and thought that adding an extra layer berween me and it might help so I bought this topper. I'm not convinced it has any cooling properties but being breathable, I think it helps. We have found it to be a very comfortable addition and doesn't affect the benefit of the Tempur at all, in fact, it seems to make it even more comfortable. For the price, I think it's a good topper and time will tell as to how long it holds up but it is supposed to have a two year guarantee so we'll see.

We bought this mattress protector as the previous one we had was too plasticy and made it very warm and unformtabel in bed. As as we fitted this protector we noticed a difference, it doesn't feel like plastic, is soft and comfortable and does keep both my wife and I cooler than when we have slept with out using it.

Apart from arriving the day after I ordered it (very impressive!) it has given my old mattress a new lease of life. My bed feels completely different - and in a good way. It feels more supportive and so much more comfortable. I have yet to find out whether it will keep me cool on very hot nights but I am hopeful. I am also very pleased that it is machine washable.I have bought 2 of these because they are SO brilliant.Summer is here and the topper really does help to keep my bed feeling cooler - as soon as I move off a section of my bed the topper cools down making it lovely to lie on again. This is a 5-star recommendation from someone who suffers from hot flushes!ps - it washes well in an ordinary washing machine too.

Although there were mixed reviews for this sort of item I was desperate to find a way to stop my memory foam mattress from making me so hot, and thought it was worth a try! Three weeks on and it's definitely working for me, and it also makes the bed so comfortable I don't want to get up!! I am very warm blooded, only ever have a summer duvet on, a lightweight nightie and the window open all night,even in winter, but didn't realise that memory foam mattresses are so hot when I brought it- so I've had a year or so of the bed looking like I've had a fight in it when morning comes! But no longer! The bed now looks like I haven't moved all night, which apparently I haven't!! So far so good, I thoroughly recommend this Topper!!!😀
