Legend: The Best of Fairuz

I purchased this CD as a father's day gift. I found this by searching 1940's music. My father, who was born in 1934, loves Faruz. I had no idea who she was, but made a great choice in purchasing this CD. He remembered seeing her on the beach when he was a child. This gift really made his day!

In Iraq after we hear Qur'an we start our day with the voice of the Morning fairuz ,She makes me feels Baghdad mornings again .it's great CD.

This is a beautiful collection of songs by Fairuz and the Rahbani brothers with a few other collaborators. Lyrics, music and quality of recordings are excellent.But again, waiting for a long time for the delivery of the Cd which arrived in a thing unproductive envelop with the case cracked across on both side during the shipping. The CD was barely intact.

Ce qui fait l'originalité de ce "Legend", c'est le mélange intéressant de sons purement orientaux et de versions nettement jazz-samba d'autres titres comme "habaitek fi saif". Sans oublier la version orientalisée de "Sketches of Spain" (Miles Davis) sous le titre "Le Beirut", une pure merveille. Le titre que je préfère toutefois c'est "Al bosta" dans lequel Fairuz nous offre ses meilleures envolées lyriques.
