Ice climbers know a thing or two about staying warm in all those long, stationary stretches when their partner is leading a Pitch. We made the perch belay parka for them (and for anyone who wants water-resistant warmth while, say, grilling burgers in a ski resort parking lot in february). a Pertex endurance shell pumped full of down-like primaloft gold, designed to fit over all your other layers. It also stuffs into the big interior pocket in the back so it can clip to your harness while you lead the next pitch-or be used as a pillow.

Great puffy!
This is a nice puffy that should keep you well insulated in some pretty extreme conditions. I'm 5'11" and 180 lbs and this jacket in a L fits nicely over my L baselayer, Radiant hoody, Cathode hoody, and Valhalla soft shell. Not excessively bulky but on the other side, there's no compression of your inner layers as you zip it up. They got the sizing just right. I won't be using the back stuff pocket on icy belay ledges while ice climbing, to stuff the jacket in the enclosed back pocket takes too much dexterity, I just stuff it in my pack. I can see using the stuff pocket on expeditions though, just to help keep your pack organized. I got the jacket in Bengal for visibility/survivability in case I'm having a really bad day out there.
