BRK 7010LBE Optical Smoke Alarm, Mains Powered with 10 Years Battery Backup

I needed to replace two linked mains smoke alarms, 86RACEMP. I looked up these replacements as it was claimed the connectors to the mains were the same and they fitted into the original ceiling mounts with a slight adjustment made by drilling two new holes in the new ceiling mounting. I managed to replace them without any bother and so far they seem to be working perfectly. I note that some reviews claimed their replacements occasionally chirp. I was concerned about that but so far so good. Hope I haven't spoke to soon.

Wanted to replace existing detectors with new upgraded ones. These were the current replacement models and would fit the existing fixing plate, however I replaced the fixing plate with the one provided was there was a colour discolouration to the old base which was visible after fixing. Connector merely pulled out and reconnected to the new unit. Easy fitting overall.

Easy replacement of original BRK fitted smoke alarm

Bought to replace the BRK 86RACEMP. The electrical connection is identical so no rewireig necessary, simply plug in with existing connector. But the new base plate screw holes did not alligne with the screw holes on old base plate. Old base plate bigger but new one fits inside snuggly if you make two more screw holes to line up with new holder. Job done 10 mins.

Easy to install works great

Smoke detector works okay when tested, but for some reason beeps just the once about every four or five hours which at 2 or 3 o clock in the morning is a pain in the neck.

As per the earlier review, I have also experienced intermittent single beeping (some days silent, sometimes twice or three times a day). I have swapped the upstairs and downstairs units over to no avail and read the instructions fully to check that the units have been correctly installed.
