Great keyboard with good software
Just got this delivered to my birthday. In a nutshell:Installation process: Win 7 Insert CD, click ok several times, finish.Authorization process: Go to Arturia.com/login, create account, add product (here Player), you receive an authorization code.(had to use a US proxy, as I live abroad)Start Software: Connect keybard with usb, start Player, enter authcode... WORKS!!!No issues whatsoever...Keyboard looks very sturdy and premium made (wood and metal), but is slight heavy (thats why I reduced 1 star!)Software with 1000 presets of former synths, good to learn about synths from the past.Hooked the keyboard up with Reason 6.5 ... works immedeately!Great Buy ;-)

Really shoddy make / No power supply
I am reviewing this solely from the perspective of a MIDI controller--this thing is a pile of junk in that regard. First off, it doesn't include a power adapter--this is ENRAGING. You also can't find it anywhere online. Thanks Arturia. That may not be a big deal to you if you are never planning on using this in a live setting with real synths, but my next point is: this keyboard is really, really poorly made. Within a few minutes of playing it, things started snapping off--first came the knobs, then the joystick, then just about everything else. Check out your local Guitar Center--you'll see that these keyboards are mostly missing their knobs, etc. Really bogus!

Arturia Synth
I just love this thing...man it sounds just like the old Mini Moog's.....you can get that Keith Emerson sound easy............All the synth models sound killer.....hard to beleive what you get for your money.........if you have ever wanted a real great sounding cheap synth your wait is over........you need to dial it in to your computer to set up when you get it.....then just turn on your computer and the keyboard....it sounds best plugged into a good sound system, your laptop drivers just will not do it justice. You could pay $2K for sounds like this.......keyboard wood and metal well made...keys feel good also........... You do have to get used to the joystick instead of mod and pitch wheels...but it works ok Arturia Analog Experience, THE PLAYER Keyboard Controller

Bad out of the box experience - still doesn't work
It could be defective, but the out of the box experience for me was horrible. It was suppose to be easy, which is why I bought it. The installation software does not install properly on a newer mac os - Lion. I found on Atruria's web site how to get around this problem with a few lines in the terminal. When it finally activated, and retained the activation code, the real keyboard didn't work. I put in a support ticket, Arturia only promise a two day response by email. For me it was to be for fun, a hobby, but feels like work, and time with technical support, mine is going back and I'll look for something easier.

Arturia just sounds GREAT
If you're reading this review and trying to decide whether to purchase an Arturia keyboard, let me tell you: you'll be overwhelmingly pleased with the sounds that emanate from this thing. My only regret is in not having enough money to buy the full Factory model keyboard and having to settle for the less expensive Player model... If you haven't already done so, get yourself over to youtube and check out what this thing sounds like. It's amazing!

Junk dont bother
I bought the Arturia laboratory and from day one had nothing but problems from broken keys to the stupid e-liscenser breaking every single day.I talked with tech support no fewer than 6 times and one guy actually told me to fix my own keyboard for they had no warranty service in the usa.How the hell do you sell products on a large scale in the USA with no warranties?Everything about there products are sub par and need to be avoided. If you like throwing money away and spending more time getting help for your purchase than making music go ahead and buy this junk.

power supply dilemma resolution- size M adapter plug 2.1mm
i'm not going to write about the player itself, as my experience is very limited with it so far... i've only owned it for a few days and it is functioning as it should and the software works perfectly. i bought this as a midi controller, as well as for the additional synth sounds, but mostly as a midi controller for the beginnings of a modular system i am building. i wanted the controller to function as a standalone unit, rather than being tethered to the computer, as i don't always use a computer to work on projects (difficult as that may be to believe).as has been mentioned here and in a number of other places on the web, this does not come supplied with a power supply, as arturia seemingly assumes that most people will utilize it with the usb power from a computer. fortunately, it has a dc receptacle, which is powered by a 12VDC 500mA supply, which you must purchase separately, and not through Arturia, but most likely through Radio Shack or somewhere else. The problem is that in purchasing an AC-DC converter power supply, they now do not come with the connector installed, nor in standard sizes, so you must also be aware of what size tip you need to attach to the receptacle on both the converter and into your keyboard controller.nowhere on the Arturia website or in the manual, nor anywhere else on the web could i find info on what size tip is needed for this... i bought the correct supply, but didn't see the small print on the box that said "ask the retail associate to help you find the correct tip for your device". so i left the store with the item only to get home and find that there was no tip. looking on the box, it says on the front that the tip is included, but reading the side of the box says that it's free, but you need to choose which size you need... and of course, the retail associate didn't know that, so he couldn't suggest that i might need one...to make a long story a little shorter, i brought my controller down and test fit several adapter tips to find that three different ones fit... at radio shack these are labeled by letter codes. codes L, M, and N all fit, but i think that size L was 2.5mm and the other two were 2.1mm (inner dimension). i chose size M and that worked perfectly, just make sure you have the tip aligned with the flat side of the cable end (which says "tip" in very small letters). hope that helps everyone else that might want to use this separately.

Arturia Analogue Experience, The Player
This 25 note keyboard has a massive potential of any sound that can be reproduced on a keyboard. The Pitch/Mod joystick is a brilliant idea which allows you to produce various sound effects and soundscapes. The keys have full velocity control and is easily connected to a PC or Mac by a USB cable (Included). The included software is both standalone and can be used in programs like Cubase and Garageband, using VST and AU versions. The octave buttons make the keyboard as capable as a full grand piano. The snapshots facility allows you to make sound samples to use at any time.Tailor make the sounds you want, using the filter effects and envelope knobs, then save them under a new name in the software or the snapshots facility. The sound range is limitless and the quality of the sound is superb! Build quality is excellent and the wooden sides are a lovely touch. No mains adaptor is included with the keyboard because the power is taken from the USB connection. This saves on mains adaptors and extra messy wires. However, a mains adaptor can be used if required. This instrument is also a full MIDI controller with a MIDI out socket. It can control other MIDI equipment and software. A sustain peddle can be fitted to the device via a 1/4" jack plug. A truly superb buy! (No product link could be found)
