Cheap fix for Bosch dish washers ... try this first!
Our Bosch shx45p05uc/53 dishwasher stopped heating but didn't produce an error code. After 8 years, it's not that unusual that something breaks, and otherwise the washer was still working. I just noticed when trying to run a cleaner solution, that the wax plug didn't dissolve. A few dead ends later, I measured the water temperature, which happened to match the hot tap water inlet (109F) almost perfectly. That feels warm but is a far cry from the 162F it's supposed to run at.Some "research" identified basically three potential culprits: The turbidity sensor ($50), the heater element ($100), or the thermistor ($45). Thanks to the engineering effort going into this device, it's quite the "joy" to get to any of these components, if you like to take the whole thing apart. Anyway, depending on the source, any of these components could have been the reason, but it turned out that after changing all three, the problem persisted. (It's a whole lot cheaper to actually measure the thermistor and the heater element. The latter should be right around 12 Ohm between the heating contacts and practically infinite resistance between the heating contact and ground. So in the end, I ended up with three new components to replace functional old ones, and it takes some more digging to identify the heater relay on the control board. That indeed turned out to be the culprit, and I should have started with that since once you're on that path, you will find that this is a persistent issue with Bosch devices. The good news, this part is by far the cheapest, but one needs to have basic soldering skills. (You can get a new control board, if you don't want to solder, but that costs a whopping $300! At least it's much easier to access than the other three components mentioned above.)In the end, the mentioned components can break, of course, but in my experience it may be best to inspect the control board. If you see a black area (or at least much darker around on of the solder spot), try the relay first. (... and only use the plethora of online videos--implying the thermistor or turbidity sensor to be a common root cause for a dishwasher not heating the water--as a follow up.Note: The NTE Electronics R46-5D12-6 relay is a 6V coil which is a direct fit for the Song Chuan 899-1C-F-C that Bosch uses in their control boards (see picture). The NTE is slightly taller (still fits) and is rated 12A instead of the original's 10A. The pin-out is effectively identical (minor, inconsequential differences). Make sure to also match the switch contact type (avoid "normally closed" or "normally open" contacts, which have a spring to enforce the particular state when not powered).

Perfect for dishwasher repair
Our Bosch dishwasher starting running for a really long time, like 4-5 hours. After some googling, I learned it was likely because the DC Relay for the water heater was blown. After taking off the front of the dishwasher it was immediately clear that the relay was blown (black on the PCB around it). Rather than replace the dishwasher or the control board (still over $200), I figured I'd try to do this myself.I have a bit of soldering experience, definitely no expert. But I was able to desolder the old one with my soldering iron and a solder sucker. This new relay works great and has been going strong for over a year now. That was worth it for a fix < $10.

No experience - Easily installed and back to new condition!
Purchased this to fix my dishwasher - it was continually running with 1 minute left to go. Googled the problem and sure enough, the post on the relay was burnt up.I've never soldered anything in my life but I gave this a shot. After finishing, I ran a full load of dishes and it actually turned off once the timer went down! Thanks for this product!

Fixed my Bosch Dishwasher
My 20-year old Bosch dishwasher was no longer heating the water, resulting in very long dishwasher cycles and wet, not very clean dishes at the end. A common problem in Bosch dishwashers is failure of the heater relay on the control board. I used this relay to replace the defective (likely worn out) heater relay, and now the dishwasher is working again good as new!4 stars because the first two of these I ordered had bent pins (storage or shipping damage?) and needed to be returned; third one I received was in good condition and soldered onto the board easily.

Bosch Dishwasher gets stuck at 1 minute - fixed!
Opened up my Bosch SHE44C02UC and found this part was burned out on the control board. After watching a youtube video I was pointed here to buy this part and replace it. After desautering and taking out the old one and then sautering this one in, my Bosch dishwasher now works like it did before.

fragile pins on this relay
I bought this SPDT relay to switch between a high/low beam headlight on a motorcycle with a six volt control system. The relay worked as expected but one of the legs of the relay was bent when it arrived. The legs are very fragile. Although I straightened the leg of the relay it later broke in situ. I had to use a Dremel tool to drill through the case to resolder the connection of the failed leg.
