Brookstone Tranquil Moments Bedside Sleep Sound Machine & Bluetooth Speaker, White, 0.5 Pound

This is such a great device, and one of the few "gadgets" of this type that literally work just as well as advertised. Oddly enough the first one I purchased was in an actual Brookstone store, and I only purchased it because I wanted a Bluetooth speaker (and the size and portability on it was great). I don't sleep well, and almost everything wakes me up. When I was travelling (and sleeping in a really noisy place) I tried the various sounds while I slept, and it really worked well. I purchased another one (on Amazon) for a friend who was having serious sleeping issues and bad nightmares, and both problems instantly went away . . . it worked much better than I expected.Before I get any bad responses here, let me give the disclaimer that I know each person has different reasons for not sleeping well. This isn't a cure-all for everyone, nor should it be. For those that have issues sleeping that *can* be affected by this, however, it works wonders. Try each sound for a few days to find out what works best for you. The one that works best for me is actually one meant to help with something else, but for some reason it helps me sleep as well. It even has a noise that helps with concentration when awake.Finally, this is a *really* great Bluetooth speaker! While not its primary purpose, it is the reason I purchased it initially. It is battery-powered (and seems to last a long time on battery), and charges with a normal micro USB phone charger. It can charge off your computer, in my case I have it plugged in to a multi-port phone charger next to my bed ([[ASIN:B00VH8ENXE Anker PowerPort 4). It has VERY powerful sound for its size, and the sound is great. It even has a headphone jack, although I'd think you would just plug your headphones into your phone. :) It has an auxiliary input as well in case you want to plug in something without Bluetooth, and of course works great as a hands-free setup if you get a call while listing (it doesn't have a mic, so you'd still need to be near your phone). It comes with a nice carrying bag as well, and I travel a LOT.

Loved it while it worked, but the connection to USB charging port wore out within a year. We used at home and for travel and the connection material/construction is cheap so that it does not stand up to being disconnected and reconnected. Now we can not keep it powered. This may be OK if you plug it in and leave it alone, but then you don't get to use the rechargeable battery you are paying for.

I purchased the Tranquil Moments Bedside Speaker and Sleep Sounds new from Amazon in June, 2017. We loved this unit while it was working, and we used it nightly for our children. We turned the unit on 2 nights ago and when we woke up it was no longer working. I didn't think there will be any problem getting a new one sent to us; it's only been 6 months and the unit has a one-year manufacturer warranty.I call the Brookstone's customer service. They say they have no record of our purchase from Amazon and I'm told that we need to email in a copy of our receipt, which we do. Then they ask us to email the unit's SKU, we do. They respond saying that we purchased the unit in 2012 and they they aren't responsible. We referred them back to the receipt, which clearly shows that we purchased it new from Amazon in June 2017 and have only had it for 6 months. They email back that it isn't their responsibility. So I call them. I'm on the phone for at least 30 minutes with a representative. She hears the story and says that she will try to make this right. She talks to her supervisor and then comes back and says that Amazon must have purchased it in 2012, which makes the manufacturer warranty expired. There is nothing Brookstone can do. I explain that we purchased it new and the warranty states 1 year from the date of purchase, it doesn't exclude purchases from third parties. I ask to speak to her supervisor. She says that there is no supervisor available and she will take my number. I ask to wait on the line for an available supervisor and she says that there will not be one available. I ask who she put me on hold to speak to and said that I will wait for that person. She tells me that person won't be available and that I will get a call in 48 hours. Meanwhile we get an email back stating again that Brookstone isn't responsible.Brookstone failed to stand by or respond appropriately to their defective product. They will no longer have our business. Buyer's beware.

Oh my gosh. I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay so much for a sound machine, but I have used this machine every single night since I bought it and it is worth every penny. I love the different sound options ("brown noise" is my current favorite) and I sleep so much more soundly with it. Hands down, my favorite aspect is that I don't have to plug it in constantly. I love that I can travel with it and still use it when there isn't an easily accessible outlet to plug it in. It seems solid and well made.

Works well, fits on bedside table well, but not the easiest to use. Many times I have accidentally changed the sound just trying to turn the thing on. I've inadvertently turned on the timer when I didn't intend to. I prefer the old rectangular machine with the buttons that were easy to see and push, but this is the best choice for the money.

Was awesome for a month but now the buttons no longer work. :(

I'm super-happy with this little gadget, and the size is a part of that satisfaction. It's smaller than I expected, which is always appreciated when placed on a bedside table. A few of the sounds are ideal for me and my goal of deeper sleeping. I've also appreciated using it as a standalone speaker with my iPhone - no more grabbing my other bluetooth speaker from elsewhere in the house to use. Wireless charge holds for a full-night, so this thing is turn key. Nice little product.
