The Intel WiFi Link 5300 is a family of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N1 wireless network adapters that operate in both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz spectra. These adapters, available in both PCIe* Mini Card and Half Mini Card form factor deliver up to 450 Mbps of bandwidth2 via features such as MIMO technology 40 MHz Channel support, and Packet Aggregation. The widespread acceptance of 802.11 Draft-N1 products has been driven by users seeking to exchange information in a timely manner, stream High Definition (HD) video, and handle voice, video, and data traffic concurrently. This has led to the adoption of 802.11 Draft-N1 as a key technology component in both Consumer and Enterprise notebook PCs. The Intel WiFi Link 5000 Series Wireless Adapters incorporate this 802.11 Draft-N1 technology with the Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 Series delivering leading edge bandwidths of up to 450Mbps. No longer completely functional under Windows 10
Used to replace a the original wireless card in an Acer Aspire E1-571-6888.Mechanically, installation was straight forward. The new card fit perfectly (standardized form-factor, of course) and the antenna leads snapped securely but easily into place.Software-wise, I did not have to install any drivers as it was immediately recognized by and usable in Windows 8.1. A subsequent update to Windows 10 also posed no problems and required no additional software.Update as of Sept. 2018: A recent Windows 10 Update has rendered this card useless on some secured networks due to outdated drivers. This card is not supported by Intel on Windows 10 so no new drivers will be released.

However with the two wires installed this card works like a charm
If you are swapping out cards, keep in mind you will need one more antenna wire. This one uses three and my old one had only two. I still installed it with just two (black and white wires) leaving the grey one empty. I wouldn't mind if they charged extra for the wires to be included. However with the two wires installed this card works like a charm. The internet is fast and at my fingertips. As an added bonus this also uses less power than my old card which also had bluetooth which I never used.

A golden oldie (keeping in mind how fast tech is moveing these days).
I have these installed in the 3 laptops I'm using now (Dell mx400s -- a few years old now) and have never had a problem. My net is 5GHz 802.11n only and they've never had a problem. Available bit rate is consistencly 270+ megabits per second in actual use.

BSOD regularly makes this useless...
Can't run under heavy load. If doing a steady wireless transfer (copying files to NAS), cause the system to BSOD within to 10 minutes. Was hoping to upgrade an old Acer Aspire 5552g. Will try an Atheros or Broadcom next.https://communities.intel.com/thread/10055?tstart=0

Highly recommend.
I now get a steady five bars , and consistent 150mps at idle , two rooms and fifty feet from airport extreme base station . Ten minutes for installation in an HP Pavillion DV6-15.6 inch notebook . Windows 7 auto installed the drivers immediately upon initial boot up . Highly recommend .

Fantastic, I'm surfing wirelessly again, Thank you
Fantastic, it took me less then 5 minutes to swap out the wireless card on an asus booted it up in linux manjaro (arch base) and it installed the driver right away and no issues at all, I am running on two antennas just fine, I went from a crappy realtek that was so bad I had no choice to use a ethernet cord to fast quick wireless connection with this card, I tested it in all sorts of this that knock out the realtek card and nothing, it just ran good and smooth. The delivery only took a few days all is good, I'll recommend this to anyone, espcially if they have linux

I have Acer 8943G and the wifi speed have more ...
I have Acer 8943G and the wifi speed have more than doubled with since I've replaced the wifi card. Especially it is noticeable when downloading torrents or direct downloads.I didn't really noticed a speed change when loading pages in the browser, mostly I see torrents and direct speed increase.

Works perfectly fine on windows 10
Bought to upgrade my Laptop WLAN card (Sony SVT13126CYS). It has Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG which doesn't support 5.2 GHz bandwidth. Replaced it with this one. Works perfectly fine on windows 10. Driver detected automatically.
