The Leghorn Cottage Chicken COOP

Let me first say for the price I am very pleased with the coop. However there were several issues I had to overcome. But in the final result I am glad I made this purchase. The coop arrived quickly in two boxes. The boxes were undamaged. It was very easy to assemble by one person. However one of the roof panels was warped. It was difficult to email the company because I couldn’t easily find their email address on their web site. After contacting them three times, they sent me a replacement panel. The coop is well built and has a good layout, but the wood is somewhat soft. I suggest painting it with good safe paint to make it last longer. The coop is very cute. It fits two chickens comfortably but I doubt it would fit more than three chickens. I removed the ladder which isn’t needed for regular size chickens to give them more room. They can easily jump up into the house. There isn’t a lot of extra space for large food and water containers though. The two inside roosts are rather low and too close to the side walls. I replaced them with a single roost positioned a little higher and repositioned it from side to side rather than from front to back. The poop tray is too shallow and requires cleaning every day or two and is also too shallow for pine shavings. I added some additional more secure latches also. I placed pavers around the coop on the ground to keep predators from digging under into it. I can easily move the entire coop to the side to clean the ground under the coop every few weeks. Although I had several issues to overcome, for the price, this was much better than building my own coop from scratch.

Well built... Just think i needed to go a lot bigger for my 3 chickens.

Great starter coop. The roost bars are one inch off the base. Way to small for large chickens. Maybe 3 full grown. Great grow out coop.

The coop was wonderfully designed but be warned the wood isn’t thick. With that said I think 3 chickens will fit fine not anymore unless they are small. I would guess it’s 7/16” thick. Needs to be caulked in spots to insure no leaks. I don’t regret but I think it’s overpriced by a bit. 299$ would be a better price.

I was nervous about putting this together but it was EASY! It is very secure and we have had no trouble with predators! It is VERY high quality and I am impressed with the Chicken Coop Company.
