Cuts my work time in half.
Hello,Originally I purchased this for making pancakes. My mistake. It's a fantastic fat separator. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I make big batches of my own bone broth a couple of times a month. This pitcher is absolutely amazing for separating the fat from the broth. It has literally cut my work time in half.No more ladling broth into jars. No more waiting for the fat to rise to the top and solidify. And no more scrapping that fat off of the broth. After the broth has cooled enough for me to safely pour I fill the pitcher with broth and walk away.It only takes a few minutes for the fat to rise to the top. It's never been easier to fill my canning jars and with no fat. It's just a squeeze of the handle and the clean broth flows into the jars.Just before the fat gets to the bottom of the pitcher release the handle and the flow stops.I've had no problems with leakage.Just like the broth, the fat is easily released into other jars with just a squeeze of the handle.I really like that the lid lifts off and that the clear base unscrews from the handle. My fat separator has been through the dishwasher dozens of times and it still looks brand new.Although sturdy it's very light weight. It's not just another kitchen gadget. It's a very useful tool, a multi purpose tool, in my kitchen.Yes, I recommend it.

Amazing multi-purpose tool! Worth every penny!
In love with my new kitchen tool! I was simply looking for an efficient fat separator, and ended up discovering this company and its AMAZING multi-purpose tool for tea and pancakes as well. Worth every penny since it is so much more than a far separator.Very very very happy with my fat separator. It works perfectly to separate the solids and the fat from the liquid. It’s the perfect size, and most importantly, it has a spout that is easy to clean. No need here to wait and try to skim the fat off of the liquid. Just pour the contents into the strainer let it settle a minute, and then pour off the juices and the fat stays in the separator! Far far better than any separator that I have used before! It also comes with a tea infuser ball that works well will leaves of all sizes. No residue in my tea despite having used finer leaves and finally, it's also perfect for making pancakes. I actually made CREPES this morning. It's a great batter dispenser. No drips! This is a MUST-HAVE item for any good cook!

Love this - but it cracked after a few uses
I really like the concept of this product, but after just a few uses, the acrylic bottom cracked so now it leaks each time I use it. I think it cracked due to heat of the liquid I poured into it - this shouldn't happen! I still use it, but now I have to place a bowl beneath it to catch the leaking liquid.

You may need to strain your broth through a fine-mesh sieve first...
My initial review of the fat separator was not good. When I used it for the first time, it did not work at all. I discovered the reason when I cleaned the unit. A chunk of onion got lodged in the hole where the broth is supposed to drain and didn't allow passage of any liquid when I pressed the lever that allows the drain plug to rise. The chunk of onion was rather large but despite this, it was somehow able to enter the strainer cup even though I poured the broth into the separator using the plastic strainer that is provided. Once the chunk of onion was dislodged after cleaning, water was able to pass through once the lever was pressed. Going forward, I will simply strain pan juices and broth separately before adding it to the separator cup. Unfortunately, that requires an extra step and extra things to clean. I wish that the separator provided an actual fine mesh strainer instead of a plastic strainer with large holes, that allow all but the largest chunks to pass through but perhaps improvements will be made in the future. Please note, even when there is nothing obstructing the drain hole, the release of liquid was not robust.

Came used and dirty!
There was an oil spot on the box, it is greasy, and smells of oil! I did not order a used product.

Great product but tends to leak a little
This is the recommended product by America's Test Kitchen. I like it better than the one with the low spout because you can get most of the broth while leaving the fat behind. I've had trouble with it leaking from the bottom hole. I always stick a bowl or plate under it when I use it now.

This is an easy product to use
I had been looking for a separator for quite a while. when I ran across this product on line and on sale, I snatched it right up. I have used it to make gravy, pancakes, and crepes. It is easy to use and works fantastic. I would recommend it for anyone needing a fat separator.

Indispensable, for all uses
Used as separator, tea infuser, dispenser, and light straining. Works perfectly for all of the above. Have hand-washed and used in the machine, both racks: tea never tastes like stock, and vice versa. Also discovered that I needed less tea to get the same flavor! Will buy again for gifts and holiday use.I do place a separate bowl underneath it for use in the fridge, because I have a teenage boy, but that's hardly normal use.
