OK, this feeder has a pretty good design, but the design is poorly implemented. Quite a bit of effort to get the top off and the hanger is all but worthless, unless you have a branch of a very specific size. It is constructed from very cheap materials and is, consequently, very much overpriced. Is it squirrel proof? No, but it is squirrel resistant. If they shake it hard, or knock it down, it is dinner time. Doves can't feed on it, but there is a learning curve before the desirable birds adapt to the challenge of getting to seed that a squirrel can't. So, manufacturer, let's make it out of things you didn't find in the garage that are more weather resistant. Make it easier to load and provide a more suitable hanger for a wider variety of applications. Until then, it should probably be priced in the $ 30 range.

My wife and I observed and took pictures of the red Squirrels inside the feeder. Also, very few birds now because they can not get the birdseed out of the wire. I bought this back in 2015. It's the best bird feeder I've ever owned. Durable, squirrel proof, easy to use. Still going strong 8yrs and counting! I've recommended this to friends and family as well. It's a great feeder.

Well it looks beautiful ,elegant for my backyard garden ,it is practical to open, yes yes all is nice ,but the little birds who come get the seeds , well they eat the ones that did fall into the tray till the rain did come .I went to buy bags of 3 different seeds. enthusiastic I did fill it till the top. they got stuck from the rain ,I am disappointed because ,you should add also an alternative that just now I saw yesterday,that there is like an umbrella ,then there is no glass to protect the seeds from the rain. really please tell em what I do wrong because I love it .I will throw out all the filling and start again .

The best squirrel proof, but yet bird friendly feeder I've gotten, and there have been many! Yes, a squirrel could cling on it and painstakingly pull out seeds singly, but our squirrels quickly lose patience trying, and move on to other endeavors.Right now, for wintertime, until the grackles return in the spring, I am keeping the feeder filled with sunflower seeds. Once the grackles are back, we will have to switch over to safflower seeds, until the grackles leave late summer to wherever it is they go to. I guess its cornfields, don't know, don't care, wish they'd stay gone permanently! But, as for this feeder, it appears that it will accommodate safflower seeds too, and as the feeder is so attractive to look at, I plan to use it year round, even though squirrels don't go for safflower seeds.We are just now recovering from a terrific snow storm (33.5" in 24 hours!) and even though the feeder was covered by blowing snow on one side, it never was completely covered, and birds were able to eat from it with no interruption.I wish this company would design a similar squirrel proof feeder for nut logs. We keep the large (perhaps 96 ounce?) nutsie seed log tethered inside of an old squirrel proof cage from Wild Birds Unlimited. The two are not made to go together, but we made it work with generous use of wire twists. I feel badly that the larger birds can't get inside the cage part to get at the seeds, and if this company made a log feeder with the same design principles, then the blue jays and red bellied woodpeckers could enjoy eating nuts too. The larger birds aren't completely left out, as we have suet feeders they can get at, but I can't have a nut log out without squirrels consuming the entire thing in record time. Hopefully, this family run bird feeder company will eventually branch out to making other equally superior feeders for foods other than loose seed.UPDATE:I found that safflower seeds are a little small for the screen mesh holes. I tried filling the feeder a few times with them, but there is a lot of waste. It even makes it difficult putting the feeder back together after filling, as the seeds fall into the groove where the outside part of the feeder needs to fit, before screwing the top back on. So, this feeder has gone into the shed until early autumn, when I switch back to sunflower seeds.

I wish to return this fear.I wish to return the speed I WISH TO RETURN THIS FEEDER. However, it was a gift and I do not have the original box or receipt other than what is on my email.I have received and installed the birdfeeder. It seems to be effective in keeping The squirrels from getting the seeds. However, it does not stop the squirrels from trying and from hanging on the feeder. When they do that the hook on top of the feeder unscrews under the weight of the squirrel and the weight of the seeds. I have attempted to avoid this by using a wrench to tighten the screw, but it still unscrews. Each time it falls, it gets dented and I lose many of the seeds that are inside. The squirrels then come back And eat the seeds from the ground.
