Great Drill but Flashlight Seems Flimsy
I've used Makita products for years, and have always liked their performance and quality. However I was disappointed with the flashlight. The head pivots, but doesn't feel sturdy. Each time you move the head to the next position, you worry if it is going to break-off. Also, the button is difficult to press, but this may be due to the fact they have it under a rubber bonnet. I would also suggest to Makita that they begin using LED light bulbs. They would last longer, and be brighter. The drill works great. It has a powerful motor, and precise control over your projects. I would not recommend this drill for professional use, but definitely for smaller home projects.

Mighty Mite!
I spent extensive time reading reviews of cordless drill/drivers, and this one appeared to be the best balance of money and rating. It was replacing a 15+ year-old Makita 12V drill/driver that had been stolen. When the new one arrived, I was frankly dubious... it was so SMALL. It looked and felt toy-like compared to my old one. However, I've found it's power to be actually slightly better than my old one, and the battery life is also better. It's not quite as powerful as the comparable DeWalt, but it's also much less expensive and more than adequate for most any task I put it to, including using a 2" hole-saw on a 2x4. Highly recommended.

Amazon specified NiMh batteries, but it has NiCd batteries
I looked specifically for a drill with NiMh batteries since they last longer and can be charged from half discharged, unlike NiCd.The product specs on Amazon's website said NiMh batteries. However the drill came with NiCd, and when I looked at the Makita website, they spec NiCd.This was very disappointing. SInce this is a gift and was time critical, I was no able to return it.I am very disappointed in Amazon, and if I get anything from them in the future, I will be sure to check the specs of the actual manufacturer, instead of believing Amazon

Makita makes the best drills
Purchased for small projects around the house and have been very satisfied. My dad had a Makita previously that he loved, and eventually gave to my brother-in-law when he got a Ryobi heavy duty cordless drill. He wishes he would have gifted the Ryobi and not the Makita... This Makita is perfect for light duty jobs. Not too heavy or bulky to where you can easily maneuver and won't wear out your arms holding up a heavier drill. Worked great to drill holes and install cabinet hardware in our kitchen and bathrooms. Would purchase again.

I love this drill...
It is easy to change the bit and is powerful enough for around the house jobs. I am not going to build a house with it. The flashlight is good and my experience over the years is that Makita makes a good product. This replaced a 20-year old Makita that still worked that I gave to a friend. I like the new keyless chuck.

About time
Got tired of cheeping out on "budget" cordless drills and got the one everyone else spent the big bucks on. The quick charge charger is great. 30 minutes instead of over night.
