AR514R-BK 2.1 Speaker System with Dual Subwoofers and Karaoke Inputs -Black, 160W

First off let me start by saying that I have never written one review here on amazon. I felt like this is something I had to share.I bought these speakers as an upgrade from the Eagle Arion ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Soundstage Speakers with Subwoofer & Remote set.When I took them out of the box they looked real nice. They also had a good weight to them, I'm old school where weight gives youa good idea how something is going to sound lol. After connecting them and firing up some dance music I was disappointed to hear thesubwoofermaking a popping noise like one was blown out. So I said ok cool let me lower the bass a little. No dice, a little more, nope,more, ok now their not popping. By now im real disappointed, thinking this was more of a downgrade if anything. After a couple of days Iwas thinking maybe there's a wire touching one of the speakers. I was ready to take it apart. That's when I noticed the screws on theback plate where a little loose. After hand tightening them with a screwdriver voilà, Success and joy. Turns out it was the back platerattling pretty bad, I mean real bad. Now they are a definite upgrade. The bass is excellent considering the size. Highs crisp and decentmids. I haven't tested the karaoke yet so im not sure how good it is.Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, Good bass, Remote control, Overall good soundCons: Only one, The knobs do a 360. I though that was kinda strange considering they have a notch on them to show how high or low your turning them. I'd feel better if the knob would stop when im at the lowest or highest point

These speakers are awful. I really regret buying these things. They don't get loud enough. The remote barely works. It's difficult to dial in the right volume. All the knobs spin forever. There's no start and end on the knobs so you can't really adjust any of the settings with any accuracy at all. It's just a guess. It seems like no matter what I do, I can't get these speakers to sound good. I'm generally just frustrated with these speakers. I wish I never would have bought them. You can probably get more out of a 50 dollar set of logitech speakers than you can out of these things.

Pros:+ Good for certain movies that have a lot of explosions. The bass can really rock the house!Cons:- Bad for pretty much any other application.- The bookshelf speakers emit an annoying hiss at all volumes at all times when the speakers are turned on. I have to turn them off when I am not playing anything because the hiss just grates my nerves like nothing else.- Massive listeners fatigue after about an hour of listening to any type of music. Treble is far too shrill and the bass is overpowered and muddled.- Volume, Treble, and Bass knobs turn forever, and your last settings are not saved once the unit is powered off. This can result in one or more frights.

So i was all hyped when i seen this 160 watt for so cheap they have good sound production but still my 130 watts out do them in sound and bass but there ok to add to or just as a starter set

Great for price. Good overall sound quality. Nice bass and treble. Clear mid. Knobs spin forever though. Literally, they actually don't stop turning. I sat there for 2 minutes rotating each knob and never reached a catch of some sort. The knobs just keep going. The remote doesn't though so i just use the remote to adjust the treble and bass. Good starter set overall though.

this could be the last speakers I need for my HDTV, great sound !Let me keep this short: I was reluctant to try a new brand at first but, after hearing about this particular Eagle Arion speaker with my husband at a local retail store, we both decided that it was worth the risk to try it. No other speakers came close within the $150 price range and we wanted to make sure our hard earned money was well spent. Well, I am glad to say that I made this purchase. Amazon was selling this at a discount price of $120, which included the shipping and delivery price. My husband is very pleased with the sound and my kids are back to spending time watching movies and playing games in the living room with us, instead of being glued to their computers in the bedroom.Oh, my kids did put a dent on one of the speakers but I managed to pull it out a bit. Not sure if the dent affects the sound quality but you might want to keep an eye on this. My husband said these speakers did not need fancy receivers because they are self powered so we did not have to spend money buying another receiver (my original HDTV sound bar did not require receiver so we didn't like the idea of having to buy an extra equipment). Oh and watch out for the microphone jacks, they are quite larger than the microphone my kids use for their video games so those will not fit. And speaking about size, these are humongous and gorgeous speakers. Everyone in the family agrees that I made a great purchase : )

Buought a set and the sub woofer sounds like garbage over drives at very low volumes so I will be returning this unit.
