AFG Sport 5.9AE Elliptical

After a few hiccups due to the lack of knowledge of a couple of AFG technical support reps I finally got a hold of a third rep who knew his stuff and immediately identified the problem which was actually very minor and easy to fix. With that out of the way, we are greatly enjoying this machine and look forward to the workouts. It is completely silent, very smooth, and easy to use. Love the I pad feature with the free app download.I would reccomend buying syntetic lube prior to delivery as the lube on the spindals mostly comes off when you remove the protective covering. That way you can go about 6 months before another lube. My only complaint is that they don't give you extra lube as part of the package.Review update: We have had the 5.9AE for 8 months now and realize it is junk. It developed a loud baning noise on each rotation after about 6 months. Called warranty service and they sent a tech out who just made it worse. Now they say they don't have the parts to fix it so we are stuck. Getting through to their service dept for follow up is next to impossible. Overall, it seems hopeless and the noise is getting worse. DO NOT BUY THIS ELLIPTICAL!

I live in a brooklyn townhouse, so when it first arrived, we had to be creative as to how to get it up the front stoop stairs. This is a very heavy piece of equipment. That's not a criticism because that told me it was heavy duty and sturdy...which it most definitely IS. The delivery guy got my permission to open the box on in my front yard. After which, he helpe me bring the pieces up from the box individually. All the pieces were there. I originally made an appt to have someone come out and assemble it. However, I knew I'd figure it out. The instructions were fairly straight-forward, you just had to really pay attention to the details in the construction photo. The company really simplified the initial inventory piece and tool check because everything you needed (nuts, bolts, washers, etc) were shrink-wrapped onto a sturdy cardboard and divided (and numbered!) into the individual stages/steps of construction that coincided with the instruction assembly book. I had it put together in about 1.5 hrs. The glide is SMOOTH and very quiet. You can "feel" the quality in its weight and movements. It doesn't take up a lot of space and the option of bluetooth or corded speaker connection to either my Ipad or android phone is an added bonus. I haven't used all the features yet, but this piece of equipment makes me WANT to use it! So far...VERY HAPPY!!

Great, quiet elliptical. Assembly wasn't too bad. Helps to have a second person, though. Very pleased with it!

I use this machine 6 days a week, sometimes twice per day. I get a good work out. I question the heart rate monitor. The device is slow to respond. It says my heart rate is anywhere from 145 - 161. This isn't a big deal to me since I really in interested in the work out. For someone that what's an accurate heartrate monitor they might want to check it out first.

This machine met all my highest expectations. Smooth, good electronics, good mobile app. It was particularly good because I DID NOT have to assemble it - otherwise, I might feel differently!

We are very picky about our exercise equipment. Really like how sturdy and quiet this seems. It is much quieter when I use it- (female 150 lbs) than when my husband does (210 lbs).I did not give it 5 stars because it came with the wrong washers and I emailed the company and no one ever got back to me. I'm hoping that if they ever do- it will stop making the ticking sound that is does when my husband or son is on it.

Further research revealed that Johnson Health Tech is the parent company of AFG.Installing either app lets you know that it cannot find your device, even though it's paired as a media audio device. Went back to the App Store to check some reviews and come to find out it's not a unique situation. People have been complaining about this app since release and it seems the company does not address the complaints, only responding that the customers should have a Bluetooth 4 device on hand. I really wished I'd checked those app reviews PRIOR to purchase. iOS folks are just peachy with it, but Android folks have been returning these ellipticals for quite some time.Okay, so we can't have it all, can we? Let's just try to use the elliptical as a Guest user. Elevation and incline buttons worked intermittently; change display button did not work. Pulse Grips heart rate sensor did not work. At all.*as instructed by Amazon Support and the manual, I opened up and reconnected console to cables to no avail.*loud beeping noise on power without any option to quiet it. If you want the elliptical to wake up your family as you start your early morning workout, this is a great option.TLDR: if you feel like sliding your legs back and forth on an elliptical with functionality dependent on a cell phone/tablet, then this is the device for you.NB: It's never a good sign when The Amazon contracted installer is cussing under his breath multiple times during setup and at the end says that the device has more parts than he'd anticipated. Seriously.

Monsterous waste of money. Loud. Was never able to change the difficulty level so it was stuck at like level 10. It weighs like 1000 lbs and cannot be moved. The buttons are like cheap Chinese made dials. This was our biggest mistake. It basically fell apart in 3 months. We just took a hammer to it and threw the whole pile in the dumpster.
