What chemicals are in it that requires it to have a warning label for California?

The product doesn't necessarily have the listed chemicals (lead and cadmium) in it. The warning is because of the seaweed and seafood used which COULD have cadmium and Asian spices COULD contain lead. Both chemicals are more high regulated in CA than elsewhere. I trust the Miko brand.

Is this product gluten free?

It comes as two packets soup base & flavor packet that you add to boiling water. Several of the flavor varieties DO contain “wheat-gluten bread” (wheat flour /wheat protein). The soup base packet none but the flavor packet spinach & wakame seaweed are the two that have the wheat. You didn’t ask but the soup base packet has MSG.

i noticed the miso base has different pckaging and seem less intense....has it been diluted?

It's pretty strong tasting. I always use chicken stock as my base and add that.
