First-hand experience/managing expectations
This is a performance muffler. Don't buy it if you want a quiet exhaust. It has a straight-through flow design. It's going to be louder than your stock baffled and chambered exhaust. It has packing/filling around the perforated flow tube that will eventually "settle" into place and absorb less sound. It's going to be kind of quiet at first, and will get considerably louder. This muffler has a million mile warranty. It will literally last forever. So, it really is quiet at first. You may be disappointed on first start if you're looking for something loud. But wait, the loudness will come. Your engine, gearing, and overall exhaust system will dictate what some call "drone." I've had this muffler on two vehicles, a Ford Expedition and Toyota Tundra. Both V8s. On both trucks, the exhaust is considerably louder from around 2000-2200rpm. I tell people that's where my muffler "sings." Under and over that rpm range, there's not much noise inside the cab. That brings me to another point: if you install this on a SUV, it WILL be louder inside than if it's on a truck (or under the trunk of a car). Especially in whatever rpm range that the harmonics of your exhaust system make this muffler "sing." In my Expedition, that rpm range was right at interstate speeds (70-75mph). It was quite noticeable, but never uncomfortable or annoying. The gentle roar was perfect white noise to get my young kids to sleep. In my Tundra, that same roar comes in about 7mph lower, so it's quiet in the cab at both highway (55-60) and interstate (70-75) speeds. I suppose it's also worth mentioning that both of my trucks were quiet enough at startup. No waking the neighbors like a 40 series flowmaster. If you've taken the time to read all this, then congratulations! I just wanted to share my first hand experience to help others manage expectations.

Best sounding muffler for V6 engines
I have this muffler on 2 different V6 engine vehicles and they sound great. No drone, no rasp, no annoying high pitched "V6" sound in the higher RPM range. This provides a nice, mellow, deep sounding note. It's not super loud, but you will notice it. I have one on a 99 4Runner with headers, custom exhaust, and a supercharger and it is actually pretty loud, but sounds great. I have another one on my 2017 Tacoma and it sounds perfect for that engine. I tried a few different exhaust set ups and this muffler is basically a direct replacement and sounds perfect.

Nice mellow tone behind a hot small block Chevy!
I bought these to replace a "stock type replacement muffler" .. Even though I had 2 they were too restrictive. These Borla mufflers are just right! They are straight through mufflers which did not increase the volume by much even behind a hot street small block chevy 406 that runs consistant 12.30's at the 1/4 mile dragstrip. I have shorty headers, an X pipe and a full 2-1/2" exhaust to the rear. They have a nice deep mellow tone even at wide open throttle. Also they are not raspy even with the X pipe. I'm very happy with these. They are my favorite compared to Flomaster 40's, Pypes Racepro's and the Walker Quiet Flow 3's they replaced!

Great 3rd Gen 4Runner replacement muffler
My OEM muffler was dead, rattling and rusting to bits... so it was time to replace. I wanted a muffler that would offer a deeper sound comparable to the OEM muffler without being too loud. This was the perfect fit after researching the many options out there today. The price and quality is right, as well as the sound. It turned out to be a little louder than I thought after it was broken in, but it's very satisfying/enjoyable rumble from the cab IMO.

Nice tone, small increase in power, but drone at low acceleration. Highway is quiet.
Run this on a 2007 V6 Toyota Rav4. Straight 2.5" pipe from the collector out out the back mimicking the path of the factory system. The power is slightly better but there is an annoying drone at low rpm and low gears. Once on the highway it's nice. But this car is driven in a lot of city driving and it's not pleasant. Will be installing a resonator to see if that solves the problem.

Borla Sound.
Takes your stock note up about thirty percent with no drone. My 2015 4runner mileage went up instantly 1.5 and have not had it on total highway.Saved alot of money going this route vs. Cat back.

Quiet and better mileage!!
Fit easily on my 2004 Grand Cherokee with a a small piece of extension pipe and a couple clamps. Nice sound, no highway "drone", barely noticeable at highway speeds! Bonus, I put a K&N filter at the same time and picked up nearly 2 mpg highway.

It got VERY loud after 6 months
The fit and finish are top notch. At first the sound was just what I was looking for, smooth but powerful under acceleration. After 6 months of driving, it sounds like I have no muffler at all.
