Excellent! Especially at this price point!
I've had this guitar now for about 6 months and play it just about every day for anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour. I felt like I had enough experience with it to give a thorough review and I'm very pleased! This guitar caught my eye during one of Amazon's promotions for extra percentage off when paid with a Prime credit card (chase card). It ended up being the typical 5% plus 15% off, landing the price under $150 before tax. I thought that was real steal. The gold top Les Paul has always been my favorite guitar, but never could justify purchasing one.I haven't played electric guitar in many years, living in apartments and other shared living spaces I stuck to acoustic but having finally moved into a house I decided it was time to dust off the old amp! At some point over the years my authentic Gibson Les Paul Studio went missing, and I never replaced it... until now, with this replica!Alright so, first impressions. It arrived in that typical "yellowish" cardboard that is common for overseas items, but was packed reasonably well and arrived undamaged. I'll admit I was a little skeptical at first. Some of the hardware was a little loosey goosey so I spent a minute or two going over and tightening things up. I didn't adjust the neck at all, and the action out of the box is light and easy to play without any buzzing that I've noticed. I pretty quickly replaced the included strings with my preferred brand which was a noticeable improvement. Having plenty of quality cables kicking around I had no need for the included 1/4" and tossed in my backup cable box. I know others have complained about the cable, but it was a non issue for me. The finish on the guitar is plastic-y, but it feels well enough constructed despite it being rather light especially compared to an authentic Les Paul. There are no imperfections in the finish that I've noticed.I have this guitar plugged into an old Behringer tube amp and I have zero complaints about the sound and tone of this guitar, in fact I'm thoroughly pleased with it. I'm sure the pickups aren't as nice as some real humbuckers but I'd be lying if I told you I could distinguish the two. With a nice set of strings and a decent amp, this thing absolutely rips in my opinion, especially once you remember the price tag. Everything on the guitar works as it should and it stays in tune very well, I usually just tune it quickly before playing and don't have to fiddle with it at all. The only thing that makes this guitar stand out as inexpensive while you're playing it is the fact that it is quite light compared to a real Les Paul, but that really just means your shoulders don't get sore after an hour of playing! As I said at the beginning of this review, I've had the guitar for a number of months now and play it very regularly. I'd guesstimate I've got about 80-100 hours with it and it shows no signs of stopping. Everything functions as it should. I'm very impressed with this guitar and very glad I decided to take the chance with the low price tag. I really enjoy it!

This ain't a les Paul...but why should it?
4 MONTH UPDATE:After about 4 months of use, this guitar is holding up nicely. In fact, I love this thing even more. I did do some modding, but nothing major. I swapped the nut for a graphtech one, and also the tuning machines with something a little more snug. Both these changes improved intonation and brought out even more tone from this already decent setup. I also did some pup elevation adjustments, but am still using the original ones. This is an amazingly built guitar and the more I play, the more it shines. I've been able to draw up hard modern rock sounds, to good U2 like sounds...to even 50s and 60s sounds (what I love the most). This is definitely a true and fashionable workhorse of a guitar.ORIGINAL:This is truly a wonderful guitar. "Cheap guitars" often get a bad rap...but seriously, this is one of those guitars that proves that you don't need an expensive "brand" guitar to sound good. It reminds you that it's the player. There are a few things I wish to make mention pertaining to the packaging, but I'll save that for last.=THE GUITAR=Build:First, it's obvious...this guitar is beautiful. From the even cuts to the finish, it makes quite the statement. The neck is a fixed neck and the body is an archtop body. In addition, it features an HH configuration (aka two humbucker pickups). It essentially has the same configuration/build as a Gibson Les Paul. The build is rock solid and does not feel flimsy at all.The body is more on the thinner side which is much more comfortable for me. And so is the neck. So it's really easy to work your way around the neck. The tuners and tune-o-matic bridge everything else are surprisingly effective.Tone:The initial tone quality is really warm and attractive. No "twangy" qualities"...and had no fret buzzes. And when you plug it into some pedals, it works like a charm and is easy to craft. Look up Tony Lee Glenn's review video and "2-year-later" video for the OE20G on YouTube to get a really good preview on its tone.Out of the box:Right out of the box, the guitar was almost ready to play. I just had to do some minor set up things such as adjusting the truss rod (very minor), setting the action to my preferences, and reversing the bottom three saddles to fix some intonation issues I had on the 12th fret of the E-A-D strings. But all in all, it's basically ready to go. In doing all this, I discovered a very key selling point, this guitar is really easy to maintain as it's easy to detach things without going to too much trouble.Things I had to change or will change at some point:1. I had to change the D'Addario XL strings that they strung it with. They were pretty dead on arrival...and I just have my own string preferences, anyways.2. I will also probably change the tuning pegs. Like I said, they are actually quite good. But I would still much prefer locking tuners...since the low A and E pegs wound up being a little loose (they hold pitch pretty well...but if I accidentally knock the headstock, it loosens a little).3. The 12th fret for the E-A-D strings had a tendency to be flat even when I had brought the saddle all the way up. So to remedy this, I had to take the respective saddles and flip them the other way so as to provide additional "space" to pull the saddle back more. All in all...The Oscar Schmidt OE20G does not only look the part, but it plays the part well. I bought this to be a "workhorse" guitar...and the quality of it ensures that I chose wisely. It's weird to say it, but it definitely encourages and inspires me in my music endeavors.=PACKAGING ISSUES=I just thought that it would be fair to mention this, but when I bought the guitar, it initially came in a flimsy cardboard box with only a foam-like wrap to "cushion" it. Needless to say, you always run a risk for damage when your guitar is shipped like that...and that's precisely what happened. My guitar took some damage as a result. I contacted Amazon about that and they offered to replace it with no additional charge. When the replacement finally came, it came significantly better packaged. The wait was certainly annoying...but it was definitely worth it. Would totally go through the whole ordeal again to get this guitar (though I'm hoping not to, any time soon :) )

Hi very good guitar for this kind of money
Hi very good guitar for this kind of money. . I have gone through quite a few guitars over the last 20 years and id put this one in between an epiphone LP standard and a gibson LP standard .fairly high standard I know but it's a good quality guitar, China make seriously cheap guitars but some are very good, I have owned played bought and sold many guitars and not to sound like im up my own A but i know guitars fairly well. There are a few problems though, the packaging that this company uses is nuts, its a small thin cardboard box no padding no nothing, this guitar is shipped from china im guessing and thats just crazy stuff .Oscar Schmidt really are letting themselves down with the packaging. i had to order a second one because the first one was damaged and it is a pain because you have to pay return shipping. This is a common problem if you read other reviews.if the action is correct you will be lucky, one of the guitars had good action the other did not but i guess its not a major deal.i spent 50 euros on professional set up.So the bottom line it sounds great, decent pickups hardware etc,( I'm not a pickup or electronics expert but it's good no mad feedback etc,I guess if you wanted to upgrade you have the option but I'm happy with the sound)great mahogany wood finish plus nice goldtop but be aware it may come damaged or it may not or you just may be lucky with everthing. so is this guitar worth this kind of money def yes. its a very well made guitar at a fraction of the cost you should be very happy with it, you can't go wrong with this asking price if it comes undamaged 😊

Wow!
This is definitely one of the best deal on a Les Paul style guitar I've seen in a while. The neck is straight and comfortable to play, the tuners keep tune, the pickups sound decent, they are wax potted and the finish looks and feels fantastic. I wasn't sure at first, but after reading the reviews and watching a few videos, most people gave it high marks for the price. I am definitely glad I got one. Except for the pots that are entry level, the rest really don't need any upgrading. The only thing that was deficient was the packaging. It came in a thin cardboard box with very little padding inside. The 3 way switch was broken off and so was the mounting frame on one of the pickups. I didn't bother contacting Amazon as was already planning to change all the white plastic hardware to black with new parts. Overall, I give this guitar a star rating for Playabillity of 5, Sound 4, Looks 5 and Overall value 4.5 stars. You might want to adjust it to your liking, but as far as the one I got, I didn't have to do anything to it. The action was low, the neck straight and the intonation was set. Koodo to the Oscar Schmidt technicians for presetting them at the factory.

Gold Top cool on a budget!
Really rather good! Probably the cheapest Les Paul Gold Top clone around. Had a Tokai Love Rock years ago and it's definitely as good as that at £120 or so less. Really looks the part, plays well and sounds good too. Also very light for a Les Paul style guitar. Some minor issues to take note of. Not protected well enough for delivery in my opinion. Arrived unharmed though. Pickup selector needed securing properly. Was rotating when the tightening nut was turned. Volume and tone knobs needed adjusting as they were difficult to turn being too close to the body. Overall finish excellent except for a small area on the back which was chipped exposing the bare wood. Can be repaired easily should i wish to. Could possibly have happened in transit.Overall, you get what you pay for but a really lovely guitar for the money. Holds its own visually stood next to a USA Fender.

you get what you pay for
this is actually a decent guitar for the money - that is why I gave it 4 stars. The action needs adjustment and the finish if iffy..... the sound is decent and can get a heavy crunchy sound. the packaging if awful and comes in a standard thin cardboard carton - surprised but not surprised since it comes from china.. definitely not a Gibson.... and the bridge was backwards!!

Almost good... But pls.. Hear me out...
Guitar arrives with basic amazon box.. Box looks smash on the side... Open up then I see the toogle switch are broken... Bad shipping and handling..... Aesthetics wise... It's very beautiful... Sound awesome PAF sound like 57s...well almost.. Good enough for me...for the price not bad at all, it's like early Clapton... It comes out of the box ready to sing... Just refresh the neck.... Little bit of intonation.. And your ready to go... 3 stars are for shipping and handling.. 4 star 🌟 for the guitar....
