Dometic CF80 12v Electric Powered Cooler, Fridge Freezer

First, let me begin with saying that this is in no way a reflection on the seller of this refrigerator. The item arrived from the seller well packaged and in a timely manner.Now, i'll begin with the good. It is a short list. The size of the unit is spacious. It will definately hold enough food for 4 people for a week or so in the bush. The lid is easy to operate, and is reversable. The interior basket is removable, making loading and unloading much easier. The interior light is a great advantage for those dark nights.NOW FOR THE BAD:#1: After only owning for less than a month, and using on one two night camping trip, the unit froze my contents with the temperature set at 39 degrees. The displayed temp reading showed 22 degrees inside the unit. This happened on two occasions. Either the temperature setting is unreliable or there is a malfunction within the shutoff system. This only happened when the unit was connected to 12v power supply of my vehicle and the battery monitor function was set to "HIGH" per the instructions. And, before anyone from Dometic says to make sure the operation switch is set to "normal use" and not "emergency override", I did that. I'm not stupid.#2. Shortly after purchase of this refrigerator, my wife ordered the insulated cover for it (directly from Dometic, and not from this particular seller). And, as you can see from my first photo, after the same 30 days of ownership, the top of the cover is coming apart. VERY VERY POOR CONSTRUCTION. I could go to home depot and get some Reflectix and make a better product myself.#3. Again after 30 days of ownership ( and remember this unit has only been used once ), one of the cheap plastic latches just broke as i was opening the unit. Not sure if you can see in the two photos provided. I currently have some Gorilla Supper Glue applied to it hopeing it will hold.#4. AND THIS IS THE BIGGEST REASON THAT I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A DOMETIC PRODUCT AGAIN. Shortly after the above mentioned mishaps, I contacted Dometic Customer Service to inquire about these issues. Let me say I've seen better customer service at a roadside hot dog stand. It has been a month, and still no replacement parts or explaination on the issues that I have experienced. I keep having to email "Customer Service" just to get any type of update and each time I get a response several days later and by a totally different person, and they just say that replacement parts are out of stock. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Dometic is the worse company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I could have purchase a much cheaper and yet highly more reliable unit from a different company. But I live and I learn.To sum this lengthy review up. It boils down to this. POOR POOR PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION. TOTALLY NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. AND JUST A DOWN RIGHT PITIFUL EXPERIENCE WITH DOMETIC. PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT OR ANY DOMETIC PRODUCT AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Uses 45-50w of power while cooling then trickles down to 1watt after reaching its temp, so far so good, froze my water bottles and works well with my solar system and goal zero solar battery set up

Handle broke when I lifted it. It was empty

I bought this to use as a portable freezer in my truck when I go out on the road. So far it does exactly what I need it to do. I just use the top area to keep zip lock bags of precooked meats and vegetables frozen. I keep a thermometer in it and if set to freeze with top area filled it stays around 8 to 10 degrees and my meat and vegetables frozen solid. Don't have to worry about tbem going bad like you do with a cheap icless cooler. It's expensive but worth it. I choose this over a bigger cheaper cooler because this had a one year warranty the cheap on only 90 days.

Worked like a charm on an 18 hour overnight. Transition from auto 12 volt to hotel room 120 volt AC was seamless. Power cord were a nice length and reached all outlets easily. Stayed at 0 to -5 degrees for the whole trip in 90 degree weather. Held more food than we originally thought it could. Compressor adds to the significant weight of the unit but if you want frozen food you must have a compressor! Very pleased with this performance.

Love this cooler it works great and doesn't seem to use much power. But, whoever designed the packaging needs to get fired. I have seen better packaging on $2 items shipped from China. Be 100% expecting it to arrive dented up!
