Lessons in Seeing
Stan Brakhage is NOT a storyteller in the traditional sense but what he does so great is to make us REALLY look at the story that is constantly going on around us (and in us ). His films depict worlds outside of History and Culture, moments of Pure Existence that most of us have fewer and fewer of as we get more enmeshed in History (our personal histories as well). I'll leave it to someone else to critique the individual films or make comparisons between this and the first volume. I just wanted to let you know WHY I love these films.
