HP Laserjet 5200TN Printer

Admittedly, I was a bit concerned about buying a refurbished large format printer for $1,000, but a new one for more than twice the cost was out of my budget. What if it couldn't take the large print job that I was about to inflict on it? Well, to my chagrin, the printer performed admirably considering that I went through 6 toner cartridges without aa hitch and 4 of those cartridges were of the non-OEM type which the printer accepted as legitimate HP cartridges. I would let it rest for a half hour or more between cartridges too make sure the unit wouldn't overheat, but it never complained and only jammed once (an easy fix) because I was also manually duplexing and some sheets in the tray weren't well-aligned. The printer has a fast response time of about 15 seconds from sleep mode and about 7 seconds when awake. Print quality is excellent and the 11 x 17 capability gives me a lot of flexibility when printing booklets, programs, etc. I love the smooth paper handling from the large paper capacity of Tray no. 3 for any size from 11 x 17 and down, and the manual tray no. 1 which takes single or multiple pages. This is the best HP B&W laser printer I've owned.

So far everything looks and works as expected. The power switch is a bit worn out, as it has no resistance when I push it to turn it 'on' or 'off' postion.The packing was very good as delivered. No damage or scratches.

We've had this printer about ten weeks now in the QC department of a custom machining shop, and could not be happier with it. No problems. It arrived in a timely fashion in good shape.It's only now and again that we need to print 11 * 17. We've changed it to make tray 2 (the smaller one) hold the 11 * 17 and tray 3 (the large one on the bottom) hold the letter size stock. Maybe you'll want to keep in mind that you can do this. When our printer arrived it was set up with 11 * 17 in the larger tray.We've also had good results with the remanufactured toner cartridge we got for it from LD Products (here on Amazon) for $76.00.

The printer worked as it is supposed to but the accessory tray (#3) needs to be returned. It appears obvious to me that the paper tray was not checked to make sure it worked--at all.

Nothing fancy, but a good solid machine for our basic printing needs. Happy with the price and the refurb seems to be pretty high quality too.
