Ozeri Movietime II 26 Cup Healthy Popcorn Maker

First: Something nice…I love that this machine has an on/off switch, none of my previous machines had that. I don’t think it would matter much, but it does. I also really like the way it looks. The mechanics are a bit different which I find interesting.About me:You must understand I have a popcorn problem.. LOL, I binge eat it every night to avoid binge eating higher calorie foods: when I am on a diet. When I am off a diet I add real butter or make kennel corned favoring to pour on it. When I say binge eat… I am the guy who will eat the giant tub of popcorn at the movie theater and go back for that free refill no one gets. I make popcorn pretty much every single night, and share it with our child, Bullmastiff, and even our cat begs for popcorn. My wife on the other hand is generally popcorned out, but still buys me a bag of kernels every time she goes shopping…What I am comparing this machine to:I have killed Presco 3 popcorn machines this year. My Ozeri Movietime II was delivered on Aug 31, 2019, so I have only owned it for about 19 poppings. I order the Presto 04820 PopLite Hot Air Popper back in April 2019, and loved to a black smokey death in Aug 2019. I choose the 04820 over the Movietime II based on reviews, and people saying Movietime II could not really pop 26 cups of popcorn. After my first 04820 died I found one person saying The Movietime II could actually pop 26 cups, however I am unsure if that actually tried it.My experience with the Ozeri Movietime II:Day One - I used the standard butter tray/scope to make ⅓ cup of popcorn and was really happy with the machine. However that was why to little popcorn for me. The popcorn bowls I really want to fill are big enough I have to put the machine on one to 2 cutting boards to get it high enough to drop in the bowl. -Oh yeah, if you do this use wood cutting boards the Movietime II will slide on a plastic cutting board on smooth countertop miss the bowl and shoot popcorn everywhere. Even if get the machine to stay over the bowl it does tend to spit out kernels that pop late: ie in the bowl throwing popcorn out.Day Two - I measure out half a cup to compare the Movietime II to the 04820. Unfortunately I was out of my standard kernels and could not make a fair comparison. It looked to make less than half what the 04820 did. Still not near enough popcorn for me. About ⅛ cup un-popped kernel, see the picture. There were more half popped kernels, not included in the picture.Several days later I got the my standard yellow kernels ½ cup from this machine still just isn’t enough for me. Same results.So another night I tried ¾ cup and the machine started and stopped (while the button was still on). I was actually surprised when I let it cool off and dumped out the machine it turned on again. So that’s a first for me, Hooray I did not kill a forth machine yet this year. The other three smoked and never started again. This happened to my Movietime II twice, and some damage may have been caused. My results seem to be worse. Now I just pop to heaping scoops of popping corn and I am getting about ½ of my bowl the 04820 would almost fill on 1/2 cup. It seems when a lot of corn in the Ozeri Movietime II it pushes the kernels of with the popped corn. So lately I have been finishing the bowl and putting the unpopped kernels in a collapsible microwave bowl. Those also not do a great job popping all the kernels, and I don’t like the taste near as much. I think the microwave burns the early popped kernels just enough to ruin the flavor for me.Bring me to my conclusion:The Ozeri Movietime II 26 Cup Healthy Popcorn Maker is probably a great machine for most people, but for me I think it’s a good backup machine. It does very well with a standard ⅓ scoop of corn, which is more than my wife and child would eat. Then you add more it seems to just waste more. The obsessive compulsive popcorn enthusiast like me is better off to blow up a 04820 every 19 weeks because I will make up twenty dollar cost in kernels. Plus I will get closer to my desired full gigantic bowl of popcorn. However I am still in search of the perfect popcorn maker. Reply if you know of an air popper that will pop a cup of corn and actually produce 32 cups popped.The first machine I killed early this year was a 20 year old presto, and they don’t make them like that anymore. The Walmart Presto lasted 3 days.

I like using this because it's healthier than cooking in oil. There is an issue with kernels flying out all over the place. So a lot of kernels don't pop. I have been clipping a towel around the bowl and nozzle part to keep the popcorn from flying all over. 26 cups? No.

I was never a big popcorn lover and actually bought this Ozeri product because I wanted to use it to roast some coffee beans. I keep hearing how you can use a popcorn roaster for great coffee. Well, once my kids found out that I bought it they made sure we make popcorn in it first. Boy was I surprised as I was never a fan of popcorn. The machine comes with a little scoop that you can use to measure out your corn. There is a fill line indicator to tell you how much popcorn is going to be made. Do not go over the first line, I made this mistake and did not expect so much popped corn. I also learned that it is easier to make even smaller batches because as the popcorn starts popping, it will push out some of your unpopped corn pieces, and they are hot when you try to pick them up. We are now making popcorn every night. At first you turn it on and nothing happens, you wait and maybe 30 seconds later the popcorn starts to shoot out of the end. Make sure to have your bowl ready to catch them as it everything starts popping all at once. It was so exciting to see fresh popcorn come out. If you avoid all the salt and butter, the flavor of popcorn is delicious. The machine did have a plastic smell to it in the begging as it is new, but after a few days the smell went away. This machine is a 10 out of 10 in my family, we love it. I Wish I bought one many years ago. In my opinion, Ozeri makes great products.

Overall the machine is okay. It's fast, and it makes good popcorn. There are some things I don't care for about it though.It shoots the popcorn out with so much force that it often doesn't hit the bowl and instead lands on the kitchen counter or the floor. It also ends up shooting a lot of popcorn kernels out of the machine before they can be popped. The last batch I made, 46% by weight didn't pop because they were blasted out of the machine too early. The only other thing I don't really like is the fact that the butter melting cup which also acts as a cap to prevent popcorn from coming out the top, just sets on top with nothing to retain it. In other words it just floats there, and could be easily lost. Anyway, the popper isn't bad, but I personally wouldn't choose this one again.

Una vez sale la primera ronda, es necesario esperar al menos 10 minutos para volver a hacer más ya que la maquina tiene algún tipo de bloqueo que no permite encenderla de nuevo sino esperas, el problema de esto, es que hay ocasiones que la quiero usar por primera vez en el día y apenas lleva algunos segundos trabajando y se apaga, por lo cual tengo que esperar al menos 10 minutos para volver a intentarlo lo cual puede ocasionar en que salgan algunas palomitas quemadas (Si la maquina no se apaga y funciona como debe de ser, no se queman). Al investigar me di cuenta que es un problema que tienen las máquinas de este tipo incluyendo otras marcas.Como comentario final, esta máquina está bien y cumple si solo te interesa hacer para 2 o 3 personas, a menos que quieras estar esperando cada ronda y con el detalle que se le ocurre bloquearse en cualquier momento.Espero que esta reseña te sea de utilidad y ayude a determinar si es lo que estás buscando.

it's ok product, it works for one round then stop for few minutes before can make 2nd round. the amount of popcorn is ok. I could rate it 6/10

Cute little unit but on average only popped about 60-70% of the kernels per batch (which are small as it is since it’s such a small unit). GREAT for dieters living on a submarine with limited storage space!

Amazon really needs a "Zero Stars" option.We liked this unit a lot for the first three times we used it. After that its best trick was spitting high speed un-popped kernels all over the place. We just thought we bought cheap popcorn.Then it set the popcorn in the hopper on fire, so we stopped using it.Total uses between January 11, 2019 and today - Feb 18, 2019? Eight or nine at the most.So after a month and a couple of days, it STARTS A FIRE IN MY KITCHEN but my "return window" ended at a month. Thanks Amazon. Thanks Ozeri.Buyer beware, indeed! Don't buy it unless you like your popcorn "literally on fire" and not just air popped. This will try to burn down your everything if you aren't paying attention, and you'll have to walk over a sea of hot un-popped kernels on the floor before you can put the fire out.
