2.5 year owner here. Multiple broken USB ports and lack of support from MS has killed this phones effectiveness.
Skip to the bottom if you want to read a review and some troubles I've had with the phone. Until than please enjoy this pros and cons list.PROS:-Great UI and Interface. Clean and simple-AMAZING camera.-Durable and solid outer construction. Went 2 years with multiple drops and dents and no screen crack.-Easy to repair. (If you need any help let me know)Cons (lots of them over the years)-Average battery life (3 hrs on a full charge) Started out with 6-7 hours a day when I first got it.-When recording, the camera gets extremely hot. Avoid recording more than four or five minutes at time (also drains battery)-Camera speed is slow. Make sure the subject is still and in good light when taking pictures.-Phone gets hot when you charge and use it at the same time. Sometimes the phone won't even charge if you use it. Had to replace micro usb port and backplate multiple times-Lack of dedicated apps that you may find annoying after a time. As of this writing (4/6/2017) FB messenger no longer works.-IE browser lock. Cant' get chrome or firefox on this. IE is horrendously slow and facebook mobile on IE clips the news feed sccreen so only two thirds of it is viewable. Sometimes when viewing videos on YouTube in IE the whole phone would freeze and I get a static screen.-Can't upgrade to windows 10 continuum. Big factor for me. For such a "high end" windows phone they don't push out continuum to this phone officially? But they do on lower tier phones like the Lumia 640? What gives?-Sometimes my phone doesn't even give me notifications anymore. Started noticing this about a month ago when I would get fb messenger alerts on my ipod and not on my phone. So I've had this phone since November of 2014 and it's been my daily driver for around 2.5 years now. Got it mainly for the camera and because my other Nokia 900 had a broken charger port (more on that later). When I first got i, I loved it. It was snappy, fast, felt like a brick and I took it everywhere I went. I'm used to the Windows 8.1 phone OS system so I am used to not having the latest and greatest apps, but I only used my phone to browse facebook, make calls, text, write down quick notes, sends emails and really light browsing. Suffice to say this phone has a clean UI and it's great for someone who wants a smartphone but at the same time doesn't see themselves using it all the time. The look of this phone is unique and the "glance" feature is also a definite plus. Throughout the two and half years that i've had it I have had people compliment me on how clean and cool my phone looks. One thing that I absolutely have to talk about, however, is the increasingly deteriorating performance of this phone and the Windows phone OS environment as a whole. On the software side things are still relatively okay. I understand that as technology ages problems are bound to happen, but one thing that has consistently failed in BOTH of my nokia phones (900 and 1020) is the fact the mini usb port has copped out on me more than once. The first time on my Lumia 900 I tried to fix it myself but the Mini USB is soldered onto the mainboard of the 900. Had to take it into a phone shop to get it fixed for like $60 and it sucks because I was without a phone for a week. When I got it back it worked fine for about a few days and than the port failed again. At this point i was just too tired of dealing with this so I bought the Lumia 1020.The Lumia 1020 experienced the same problem around a year after I got it. The mini usb charging port became loose within the chassis and i couldn't charge my phone at all. After much, MUCH searching around the internet and youtube looking up repair guides I finally said "screw it" and decided to repair it myself. Turns out I am not the only person with this issue , as there are dozens of people online who have the same experience as I had. So after I Bought a couple of mini usb replacement ports and tore apart my phone (easier than it looks, keep track of the screws!) I spent an excruciating amount of time trying to get the mini USB port to fit exactly where the original one used too. I guess it was glued on or whatever because it came loose again in the chassis after a couple of days and I had to attempt another repair. SO this repeats for like another 6 months or so where the port would break/come loose and I would have to order more ports. I think in total i spent like $20 on ports and like 4-5 hours in total repairing my phone in those six months.Of course, the simply solution (and I found this out the hard way) is just to order a replacement backplate WITH THE MICRO USB ATTACHED to it! It cost like $12 and I was so happy when I found out it worked! Unfortunately they don't have a white version when I ordered so now my phone is black with a white sim Tray. Looks pretty cool imo.Don't want to rant to long. Mainly I decided to write this review because I'm heartbroken at the potential that the Lumia line had with MS. I kept getting hyped about the "McLaren" that was supposed to follow up on the 1020 but hype after hype and disappointment has made me into a bitter old Windows fan. I could go on all day about how I wish I could stay with Lumia but at this point it feels like im in an abusive relationship and I'm leaving for the better. Now, this is just my opinion and my personal experience with windows phone, but the lack of apps and Microsoft's attitude towards its Windows mobile users is what drove me away from the Windows environment. I'm getting a Nexus 5X on Google Fi and i'm sad to leave Windows OS but the lack of innovation and support from Microsoft makes me want to take a breath of fresh air.Goodbye Lumia 1020.

I was worried that I could not get another one that is as good as my old phone
Seller ships really fast. The phone is as true as any positive comment here says. I bought the white one, after my old nokia lumia 1020's screen cracked. I was worried that I could not get another one that is as good as my old phone, which was an awesome camera phone. This new one is just as good, if not better. As soon as I got connected to the Internet, I was able to upgrade it to Win 8.1 and got to see my Cortana again. I'm not a technical person but one thing in my experience with my old Nokia Lumia 1020 that I think others should be aware of: It can have screen burning issue. My old phone has ghost pixels from various Youtube, Tube Pro apps. I'll be extra careful with this new one.

A Good Windows Phone with a Great Camera
This is a really nice phone for the price. Windows Phone 8.1 (which the phone will automatically update to after you connect to wifi) is a great operating system. I really love the glance screen feature. The picture quality (one of the main reasons I bought the phone) is excellent. The main disadvantage is the limited number of apps and the general lower quality apps compared to Android or iOS. We have two of these phone that we use with Cricket Wireless and have had no problems.

Decent. The phone fits my personality, but may not please you.
I like the phone. Arrived on time. Good camera. Speaker sounds great! The ear speaker is soft sounding. The phone responds slow compared to iphone phones. If you are willing to sacrifice user interface for the camera, then this is the phone for you. However, if you want a slick, easy to use, quick, light, and good all round phone, get an iphone.
