Accounting Leadership in a Lean Enterprise
As a consultant and researcher in Lean Accounting practices, I find Jean Cunningham’s book to be a valuable source of information about how to become a proactive provider of accounting data and decision insights. She addresses how the accounting team can adopt kaizen methods to reduce lead time on the monthly and annual closing of the books… thereby giving management a quick jump into the next round of operational planning.Jean also offers guidance about how to create Lean financial statements with enhanced awareness on Variable Margin, reduction of the use of cost allocations in favor of cost assignment, and elimination of various types of cost system process waste. I find the Five Drivers of Value Creation (reduce cost, create capacity, increase demand, improve variable margin %, and reduce capital structure) especially insightful to steer senior management towards priorities for business process improvements. All these tools and tips are valuable for getting to Real Numbers for decision-making in a Lean enterprise.

A New Dimension on Lean Transformation Strategy
This is a very practical and easy-to-read book for all CEOs and managers interested in developing a Lean Transformation Strategy geared for Sustainable Profit Growth. As a Lean Practitioner in Manufacturing, I was involved in various VSM case studies and witnessed great improvements in capacity, productivity and growth. However we could never prove our case with financial statements. It was just an overall feeling of success and gross benefits. The writer explains that all the success can be accounted for financially and monetarized without getting into classical accounting jargon for non-financial people. I am looking forward to use this book fully in our next assignments and get into organizational side of the Lean Transformation. Great work !!!

The best book on accounting process improvement I have ever read!
I like the simple to understand language used. I liked how the author showed by example how common GAAP related information can be easily transformed into business information. I recommend that every CFO, Controller and Accountant read this booj

Great book
I really enjoyed the way the Author kept things high-level while digging into the details of certain topics (e.g. month-end closure)

Accessible, actionable application of lean to accounting/office processes
I come from an engineering background and have been working on my company's continuous improvement team for the past year. I was recently asked to provide some training to a group of colleagues from finance and SAP/IT that make up one of our satellite locations. Most of them had had little to no exposure to most of the company's lean activities so far, and I wanted to make sure I could make the concepts relatable to their jobs. From a search online and a recommendation of a colleague, I came across your books which I read in preparation for the training. I found them all extremely helpful, especially The Value Add Accountant. I recommend it for anyone working in an office environment who is searching to find their relevance and impact within a lean transformation. Concepts and ideas were clear, understandable, and accessible to those of us who lack a background in finance. Ideas are concrete and actionable for any person in any company, including companies that aren't pursuing a lean journey at all.
