Prequel Sensitive Skin Moisturizer - Ectoin Urea Allantoin Barrier Cream 5%

TL;DR - very effective anti-inflammatory and barrier-protectant, but with a couple of possible triggers. Use less than you think you need and mostly as a spot treatment rather than an all over moisturizer. I have very thin, sensitive and reactive skin. I also use actives that occasionally make that worse. My husband has eczema, psoriasis and barrier-compromised skin. We both use the absolute heck out of this! For both of us, it soothes irritation, scaling, tightness and flakiness almost on contact. It's an excellent spot treatment. It has an ointment-cream texture that will not feel good on oily skin, but feels pretty awesome on very dry skin. I would not recommend it as an all over treatment due to the cost and concentration. Prequel has a much more cost effective barrier cream for all over use. That said, there are two ingredients very high on the list that can be a problem for some folks with sensitive skin: urea and jojoba. Urea is fantastic for barrier repair but if you're sensitive to it, it can cause flushing and irritation. I can use this right after tretinoin with no problem because urea doesn't effect my skin that way. But patch test this first on the inside of your arm to see if the urea concentration is tolerable for you. Jojoba is the other ingredient that can sometimes cause an issue. It's not usually considered an allergen (though any plant can be), but it can trap bacteria if over-applied or not thoroughly washed off later. This is a highly emollient ointment so a little goes a very long way. I don't use this on active acne breakouts for that reason. That said, it's fragrance free and provides a long-lasting, gentle barrier for irritated skin. So I buy these two at a time for my husband and me. I haven't found anything that works better on the severe scaling, irritation and flaking.

I bought this because I was looking for a product containing ectoin to try for my eczema. I will repurchase, it has been effective. I’ve been using it equally on patches of eczema on the backs of my hands, as well as a facial cream for either spots that feel dry or itchy, or all over to soothe my skin after exfoliating. My dry sensitive skin absorbs it quickly and it feels so nice. The visibly irritated area around my hand eczema looks and feels immediately improved after application, and it stays that way for a while. Next time I get a scrape or cut I will see if it helps.

I have very sensitive skin with multiple issues so when I saw this recommended by a board certified dermatologist on YouTube I purchased the tube and checked it out with my dermatologist in office. She approved. And it works incredibly well on my face.

I really like it, when my skin feels a bit irritated, it soothes and calms it down. Excellent ingredients.

I’ve gone through several tubes of this already. A must have in my nighttime routine now. I have sensitive, fair skin and this moisturizer is focused on repairing the skin barrier. It’s smooth, not greasy, and so effective.

I have type I Rosacea, Melasma, and dry sensitive skin in my 50’s. I get eczema flares on neck chest and arms at times. This balm is great after Tret at night - I can now tolerate 0.1% Tret 7 days a week without redness irritation or peeling. I spot apply it when I have an eczema patch and it calms down within a few hours. I think I have bought 6 tubes. One in my work bag, in my car, for my young adult daughter with angular chelatis. It’s amazing.

This ointment is ..... fine? Usually when i look for an ointment im looking for a SUPER occlusive top layer, but this isnt it. Its definitely an ointment, but its more like..... a silicone feeling- almost matte- formula. The ingredients are great though, so if you're looking for a more "makeup primer" type feel, this is great for you. I'll stick to my vaseline at night though.

Worked wonders on winter dry patches on my cheeks and sides of mouth. I’m a somewhat new Prequel product user. I follow the creator on YouTube and love her skincare videos. I have tried a few products so far and have been happy with the results. I just ordered the foot repair ointment for my husband as well. I think this brand is a great value for the money. I have not had any bad reactions so far and I have VERY sensitive skin. This ointment is lightweight and melts into my skin well and the next morning my dry spots were literally invisible. It’s fragrance free, I did not notice any scent at all, which is importance to me.
