Wonder Woman (2016-) Vol. 8: The Dark Gods

Great read

The Wonder Woman rebirth stuff has been wildly up and down for me. This vol is not the worst wonder woman stuff I've read but it's far from being great. This is actually a sort of spin off from the Dark Nights Metal series and deals with the fallout of the event for wonder woman but it's much more lack luster than it sounds. The villains are entirely new characters which, in comics, would generally be a good thing to see, but we don't get any time with these characters so they come off as generic villains despite *some* interesting designs. They way this book handles Wonder woman's brother is also really irritating. I won't spoil what happens but it's very easy to guess where they're going and it's not inventive at all. The bright spot of this book is the return of wonder woman to the star sapphires. That issue was absolutely amazing and I really enjoyed it. Overall this marks the end of a wonder woman run that had some ups and downs and it's worst crime is that it's just ok.

I wasn't sure about the direction on Wonder Woman in DC Rebirth but this is a fantastic story
