Zoom F1-SP Field Recorder and Shotgun Microphone Bundle with Deadcat Windscreen and 32GB Micro SDHC Card

This product has two components: the Zoom F1 shotgun kit, and the windmuff and sd card provided by Movo. The Zoom F1 kit is excellent, and I’m very happy with the quality. I also ordered the Zoom midside capsule and have been very happy with both microphones. The F1 works well as a stand-alone recorder and is very easy to configure and use with a camera as an external mic. It provides a cleaner audio than my Rode Video Mic when recording into the camera, and a much cleaner signal when recorded internally with the F1.The Movo kit (sd card and windmuff) is not a great value. It’s comparable in price to just buying a 32gb sd card and a windmuff. The sd card is a Sandisk Ultra and is a good match for the recorder. The windmuff, however, doesn’t seem like a good match for the shotgun mic. It’s a sleeve that is far too loose to go on the mic without foam, and is very difficult to get on the mic with the foam. I would look for another standalone windmuff that can be installed on the shotgun mic without requiring the foam.

I have spent a bit more time with this little guy now so i am revamping my review. I have the shotgun and the lavelier mics for this.They are bolth great! The lavelier is so nice. Im working on a video with the lav sound and so far it sounds fantastic.I attempted to record the sound from the f1 into my xa30 and it came out aweful and i dont know why. The sound directly from the f1 is great though.I love the size and feel of the recorder. Mostly metal and sturdy. There are different settings for types of batteries. I just got nmh batteries and not sure how the device orients itself to the batteries when i change it to match the nmh batteries. But the normal batteries didnt last as long as suspected. Like 2 -3 hours or so. Maybe it is the batteries or maybe it is the shotgun mic vs the lavelier because most reviews say this last like longer than 8 hours.Anyway so far its great!!! Will be using this for a long time.

good sound pick up

Stellar recording and solid build for location work.I use it as a pocket recorder and have a Lav mic purchased separately.This records exceptionally clear in a variety of formats.I'f you're looking for a great single mono or no fail clean stereo-track recorder that takes the same mic modules as the H6, then buy this and get back to work!

I don't have any use for shotgun microphones and subbed it out for a different mic. The device works very well. I primarily use it for dictation in the field with a countryman b3 lapel microphone and then transcribe it on the computer with dragon 15.

Works as advertised on my 2-3 tests so far... After figuring out how to monitor the sound (totally my novice fault) I am getting clean audio from this setup... Haven't mounted in on my camera hot shoe yet so can't comment on that part

It’s actually an amazing product! The only thing is that it’s super finicky and sensitive so it was really easy to peak. But overall a great product!

Love it easy to use sounds great.
