An exceptional receiver will enjoy years to come
I had an Onkio tx sr508 own it for over ten years, , I know it's a time to upgrade....so I did, took a leap to Marantz...Vendor ships super fast (safe and sound) got to give them two thumbs up.( share the story in a little bit)Got it hook it up with Jamo d590 as main speaker, Martin Logan motion 30 as center and Martin Logan motion 4 as surround, currently running 5.0 ( so subwoofer yet )It sounds amazing, no doubt about that..And it looks beautiful and weights alot, twenty something lbs...I love heavy a/v equipments..I feel you will have to work in the receiver a little, noticable sound difference to the better from initial start up vs few movies later..Now I want to point out something I don't like, it's not the receiver itself, it's the remote control, its clicky...you really have to press it in order to get the functionality of desired, annoys me a little...This model supports 7 channel, I wanted to run more speakers plus zone 2, so 7 is not enough for me, my fault on that I mis calculated. So i need another upgrade to the next model SR6013So I contacted the seller( Safe and sound ), and happen to be somewhat closed to where I live, they offer me to sent it back with a shipping label and reorder, and i told them i rather do the exchange in their store, yes they have a store, very nicely setup. So went to their store and did the exchange and got the SR6013, staff was very helpful....thumbs up for safe and sound again. This one little more power and little more heavier...other then that it sounds very similar...If 7 channel is enough, sr5013 is an exceptional receiver, won't be disappointed, will be able to enjoy it years to come.

Easy to follow setup instructions.
The set up was very easy. The sound quality is great. I originally bought a Pioneer. I had to send it back it would not recognize my speakers. I thought that their setup instructions were not as good. The Marantz was more expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.

Amazing receiver, highly recommended
I have been in home theater systems For many years, Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer, Sony, etc. This was my first “high end” receiver and WOW, I’m in love. I have it powering an all Klipsch speaker system (RF62 towers, r34c center, R51m rears and r41sa heights, plus 2 10” Klipsch subs.) I can seldom reach 50% power due to the amazingly loud volume. This receiver is better than I had hoped for!!Pros: Power to spare, crisp/clean power. Highly configurable for various setups. On-screen setup has more options that you will ever need.Cons: remote is a bit difficult, I use only the iPhone app for daily listening(app is not intuitive but once you learn it, it is comprehensive)Needs: iPhone app updates!

Awesome
I upgraded to Marantz SR-5013 from a Yamaha RX-A660. I don't know if there was something wrong with the Yamaha but holy crap the bass output difference is staggering. I ran YPAO multiple times and even manually calibrated with decibel meter on my phone. The latter helped a little. But just plugging the same speaker setup into the Marantz and running Audessey. Wow, Now I feel like I'm actually in a movie theatre. It brought that sub to life. My sub is a Klipsch R12SW. I always thought man this sub should be thundering way more than this. On the Yamaha it just felt boomy and not very punchy at all. Now with the Marantz. It's like I bought a new sub. Scenes in films I used for reference jesus man. Literal night and day difference.

The HDMI pass thru did not work
Very disappointed. Good sound but not better than my Onkyo 800 series. Sent it off to Adams Electronics in LA but no resolution. Wasted $35 on shipping. The seller of this Marantz unit was wonderful to deal with. He took care of return shipment and credit. I came up with a workaround using Input HDMI1 on Samsung TV for my Onkyo 800 (HDMI bipass not working on power down) and HDMI2 for Comcast Xfinity. A good workaround! Onkyo 800 sounds just as good as the Marantz $1500 unit.

Changed My Home Audio for the best
Went from a older yamaha to this receiver. Wow. I should've done earlier if I wasn't so cheap. It has changed my home cinema for the best. Setup was easy. I'm not an audiophile, but I looked at many receivers and relied on reviews and bought this model. Glad I did so far. Hope this helps

Outstanding performance
Note that I am using an outboard amp for all but the Dolby Atmos height channels. The audio and video performance is outstanding - everything I expected from Marantz. One minor warning: you have to manually enable HDR in the video settings...it is not turned on by default.

Deep Bass and easy set-up
Excellent sound quality and deep bass. Replaced an Onkyo that had DSP reliability issues. So far, so good.
