Clearly, Bob has a much bigger spread of land than I do and I would bet that it is much flatter than mine as well. So for him, the spikes are not important, but for me they are what makes this spinkler worth the cost! I can step on the handy (foot-y?) part and easily sink the spikes into the ground where it holds the spinkler head steady and at the angle I want so it can sprinkle both down and up a slope without jittering around the way other spinklers do. So PLEASE, Gilmour, don't change the design of this sturdy and effective sprinkler. And, yes, it does cover a very large area and is easy to adjust both in terms of the spread of the spray and also the coverage from full circle to any size arc you need. Highly recommended.

This is the best sprinkler, by far, i have ever owned. It has great coverage, it is heavy duty and projects a heavy “drenching” soak. Other sprinklers I have tried send off more of a “mist” that tends to get carried off into the air, rather than properly water the plants. It’s fully adjustable and the large spikes keep it firmly in the ground. The first one I bought, many years ago finally started to show it’s age. The washer inside the connector to the hose, snapped. It is leaking water out a bit. Time for a new one. Just be careful trying to shove it into hard clay soil. The spike tips can break off with too much force. All in all, this is the only sprinkler I will buy from this point forth. It has the least amount of flaws out of any other sprinkler i have tried.

I have had this sprinkler for a couple weeks. The second time I put it into the ground, the front long spike broke off in the ground. I bought this because it was metal and I assumed it would hold up really well. A little disappointed and i thought about returning it. However, I kept using it and it has performed great. It is a little more challenging to get it into the ground with a broken front spike but other than that it works great and covers a large area.

I ordered 3 sprinklers as to try and get ahead of re-ordering perhaps next year. I have tried to use 2of the 3 with no luck. Neither would return when reaching the full extent of the path. They stick in one direction and do not oscillate to repeat cycle. I'm thoroughly disappointed. Seems like a small design or manufacturing flaw to allow to ruin an otherwise great product. I will be returning this product.

OMG this sprinkler is bonkers. It is huge, built like a truck, and seems adequate for a small farm. I am watering my backyard from a rain barrel and my 1hp water pump WAYNE PLS100 1 HP Portable Stainless Steel Lawn Sprinkling Pump is a weaker than NYC city water. I realized I could upgrade the sprinkler and get the same coverage. I left this think on the maximum setting and tested it out at 1am. Figured I'd be safe because of the weaker pump. First it watered my neighbours second floor roof! Later in the first pass the water pulse hit my pool about 8 ft away and the sound of the pulsing water must have been 80 decibels! All my neighbours woke up (possibly from me laughing.) Once I dialled down the jet distance and the diffusion (the little pin) with an appropriate setting for a 50 ft wide backyard, it is perfect! I can water most of the backyard from one spot with only a single rain barrel. Water is so expensive here, pump and sprinkler should pay for themselves over a single summer. I'm sticking it to the water company, with a free rain barrel, from the water company?? Irony? Don't forget, test it during the day. :)

I figured I could water my entire front lawn using just 2 sprinklers, but only if they could each shoot out over 40 feet. I read some negative reviews about these Gilmour sprinklers, but decided to take a chance and order a pair to see for myself. To my amazement, they both worked incredibly well, but you need to be sure to use 3/4 inch hoses, to allow the best water flow possible. They have now survived two fall seeding seasons and seem capable of working next season too. The only thing I'd worry about is putting too much pressure on the base. The metal doesn't appear to be that thick and if you wobbled it back and forth too much, I suspect the tip could break off. Other than that, I've been very pleased.

Pay attention to these reviews. I wish we had! Just as others stated, the main spike breaks. And the sprinkler, after a handful of uses, now gets stuck. And when ATTEMPTING to return, they state it must be in the condition it was when received. How? It failed. It’s defective. I want a refund. I’m currently corresponding with their customer service but, beware! It’s not really appearing it’s returnable. They’re saying there will be a restocking fee if not in the same condition as it was when received. UPDATE: A full refund was issued with no need to return product. Customer service exceeds expectations.

Add one to the broken spike group. The long spike on mine broke on the 7th stab into the ground. Granted, we have hard, rocky soil, so I'm not really faulting the sprinkler. The sprinkler itself is amazing. I'm very impressed by the range. And I disagree with the reviews that say it doesn't spread the water well. I think thats more user error. It's very adjustable and you can make it spray more close. And once it's tuned how you like it, you don't have to mess with it again. I won't be returning the sprinkler because of the broken spike. Mine is still very usable as is but I liked the idea that the one reviewer had, making a concrete base for it. So that's what I will be doing. All in all very pleased with this sprinkler.

Great coverage! Solid unit, took a beating from kids playing with it and stills works like a charm. >Make sure to use a 5/8” garden hose in order to use it to its full potential. I found that with 1/2” hose it has difficulty to rotate and lacks the momentum to change directions when you limit its coverage

I must have a dozen sprinklers kicking around the yard but never over excited about any of them. However these sounded good so I ordered 2 of them. I received them last week and ordered another 2 yesterday. These are well made and wow do they ever shoot the water! (FYI I have over an acre of near perfect lawn and my irrigation system is tied in prior to the regulator.)

I have had nothing but problems with these sprinklers. First one stopped rotating in a week. Second one lasted a season, but did not work first use of second season. Tried contacting manufacturer for warranty support, but there is none.

Unfortunately our home is 70+ years old and apparently does not have enough water pressure to run the sprinkler. Also will not work with an expandable hose. But, gave it to my daughter and it works great in her yard.

Most awesome sprinkler!!!! This one can cover a huge area! Metal construction seems durable but time will tell. Tuning the distance, angle and intensity is very easy. Hope this can last 10 years.
