Probably a daft question but,do you apply this with a brush or can you put it straight on your face.?

A brush... Put a little cream in a shaving cup/bowl (or a coffee mug) and whisk with a slightly damp shaving brush to create a thick lather

Is this still in a metal tube or plastic now?

I always buy these in bulk, and the last time I purchased the item in bulk it's in a metal tube. I am assuming that like me you want to be able to 'squeeze' the tube by folding the end of the tube as you use the shaving cream. I have always used this shaving cream since I started shaving. Its the shaving cream that good barbers use in Cyprus (where I'm from) that offer shaves. If one day Palmolive go crazy and produce this is a plastic tube, I would still buy this item as the contents are the best (I've been using this shaving cream for 54 years). I would find a way to squeeze a tube that refuses to be squeezed.
