Sony SSCS8 2-Way 3-Driver Center Channel Speaker - Black, 4 Bookshelf Speaker System

... with this Sony, and the sound was considerably improved from an older JBL. The voice quality, not just the volume of speech, was an upgrade. This Sony picks up a bit more of the basso in the deeper male voices. It came with small, rubberized, stick-on "feet", so no need for a makeshift buffer on a hard surface, which was a nice touch. Feels solid and dense in the casting. Overall, very pleased and worth the price.

This is a solid choice if you're looking for a good center channel speaker. Works great for a 5.1 or 7.1 center driver. Most of your dialogue is running through the center, so it's important to have a speaker that can deliver the higher frequencies. The tweeter is good and I can hear everything clearly. If you want to spend a 2-3 hundred more on a higher class center, go ahead, but you won't get more for your dollar.

This speaker is excellent quality for the price point. The sound is crystal clear and would be a sound investment for a small to medium sized room. See what I did there? Seriously though, I would buy this again without giving it a second thought.

It does a good job for what it is intended. Movie dialog and mid-fi multi channel music. It should not be expected to play much under 100hz though, so be sure to setup the crossover points to 100 or higher. The only thing I would have done differently with this design is to adopt the same tweeter/super tweeter unit as the SSCS-5 mains. It would have been barely noticeable in the cost to the product and would have matched the timbre and dispersion exactly. Oh well, they work well enough at this price point.

Purchased this on sale to match my sscs3 towers. Before I purchased this, I was using the micca mb42x-c center channel. Out of the box it sounded pretty terrible compared to the micca. Boomy voices and over emphasized treble making S's sound obnoxious. After running room calibration and applying some EQ it sounds allot better. Compared to the micca voices are easier to understand at low volumes, but I feel the micca more closely matches the timbre of real voices. Voices have more bite in the mid range and more extension in the low male voices compared to the micca. Only reason I got this is to match esthetically better with my towers. Bang for buck, the micca is the better deal with a more natural sound. But this one has a better enclosure build quality and a more aggressive, dynamic sound. I will be keeping it.

Although I purchased this as a significantly lower price than is currently listed during holiday sales, I can definitely say this center channel is worth the money. I do not consider myself an audiophile however I have been tinkering with surround sound systems and stereos since the early 1990s. I place the sound quality as good as any klipsch, Jensen or polk that I have owned. The home we purchased had a prewired in wall surround system however the center channel did not work and I did not feel like troubleshooting this so I went to Amazon and found this speaker and I am very glad that I did. It made watching the Mandalorian all that much more enjoyable. This is the way.

Definitely an improvement from my no name smaller center channel speaker. The highs are the best quality. Mid range is good. Bass is almost non existent. Truth be told my receiver sends the bass to my sub woofer. It may produce better bass than my set up does. That is no fault of the speaker. It functions flawlessly as a center channel speaker. I can now hear all of the voices, not just the ones in my head!

I don't know what I like but I know what I don't like. I bought a cheap sound bar many years ago when they first came out. I hated how it sounded. I returned it and never looked back. "Boxy" is the perfect word to describe the sound. This is my first legit theater system, I want it to sound pretty good. In short, I like how voices sound, not too bassy or boxy. Very clear dialog. Don't be afraid to gamble on used or open box.

Una buena decisión haber comprado esta bocina para el canal central de mi teatro en casa. Mi TC es un LG sencillo pero tiene las bocinas pequeñas y se escuchaba un poco agudo. Cambié el canal central por este y la mejora fue excelente. Agregó un sonido más grave y también tuve que bajarle el volumen al subwoofer que lo había subido para tratar de equilibrar los agudos sin sentirme satisfecho, pero ahora con el nuevo canal central está mucho mejor. Cuando veo peliculas o la tele, las voces se escuchan claras. En ambientes 5.1 o 7.1 el canal central es el más importante pienso yo, ya que es el que más suena y este Sony cumple y bien.

The speaker has good sound, was running a Yamaha 4K amp before with 4 speakers, missing the center channel speaker. Now that i have this speaker it has made a huge improvement in sound quality for Netflix and DVD / Bluray movies. The speaker has good base sound, and makes action movies that use at least 3 channels come alive. Not all shows and movies use surround sound, if you are watching stuff from 1970/1980's lots use 2 channel stereo sound. You can check surround sound status with the amp onscreen display while watching movies, if at least 3.1 you have surround sound enabled content. All movies and shows must be mastered by the movie studio in at least 3.1 for you to benefit from surround sound.
