What a great, great product I bought. This Nextion 7 inch display has a great potential, though documentation is NOT friendly, however there is indeed a lot and there are great youtube tutorials that will help you. This is now part of my own home automation system and as far I can say Its a great product. Hope to buy more on the future.

Great product and very Fast delivery

As I have used all but the smallest of Nextion displays, this is my favourite. It is easy to program and use. If you need a large display for your project get this one you will not be sorry.

This is a powerful and capable device. I was able to get a menu defined with graphics and touch areas within minutes. One “gotcha” was the published online forum posts on fonts which were wrong about the process for creating them for this device. The software has the tool built in and makes it easy to import most any font installed on your machine. No third party tool is needed. After that you can define button actions to send serial or control GPIO. You can run this device without any other uC if your aim is to output serial or you can control any aspect of the interface with something as simple as an Arduino UNO. My application called for serial output only and all I had to add was a power management board for a LiPo battery and I was done. You can bet I will be exploring the other interfaces they have to offer for my projects in the future.

If you need a human interface for the arduino like I did, this will do the job but this interface is going to increase heap/memory usage which may push you past the 75% recommended by arduino. Regardless of how I pared down memory usage in the rest of the program, the GUI code seemed to exacerbate the situation. It's also not the easiest to use - it seems like the features I needed just were not there. I ended up ditching the interface/Nextion and using an RPi to control the arduino.

I have used 2 of these screens now and they really do work great once you understand how to program them. I have one on a 1 axis robot and the display runs for days at a time with no issues. I use my displays paired with teensy microcontrollers, however I don’t use the included library. There are a few really good tutorials on YouTube that help get the most out of the display.I would definitely recommend these and will continue to use them for future projects.

Easy to set up, good size screen easy to read across room. I use it for DMR.
