Very helpful
Molecular biologist here- starting a company with what I think is a great idea, but no real business experience to speak of. Being true to my profession, I purchased around 10 books on how to start a biotech company. This book was for sure one of the best. Clear, well written, and explained the essential things I really needed to know. I was able to have meetings with the lawyer where I understood what was discussed.. I was able to put together the basics as far as company organization and to understand the purpose of each part. If you are new to startups and are looking for a book that can explain "what exactly should I do now" this book is for you.

Starts at the beginning
This is what it says it is and is written for scientists trying to figure out what they need to do to get a company going. It defines terms and shows how the various bits fit together. Very basic stuff for an MBA but really useful for a PhD. Thank you, Leah.

Highly recommended
I found this book to be concise and helpful for scientists and engineers planning to start a company in the life sciences as well as in other industries. The specifics related to life science clarified the process, especially the details related to government reviews and regulations.

A really good blueprint for new entrepreneurs
This book has clear explanation for non-business people, plus a lot of helpful references. Highly recommend.

Needs a good editor.
The book is a bit of a mess, it needs a good editor. It sounds like the author knows what she’s talking about, but it felt like you were talking to someone at a coffee shop or a bar and they’re just giving you a bunch of random tips at you.

Really helpful to me as a beginner entrepreneur
This book is great for the basic concepts of what an entrepreneur has to do. Am halfway through but it's A great read, not boring in the slightest. A brilliant pointer in the right direction, much needed. Really simple and easy to read, very interesting. I would definitely recommend this to any new life-science entrepreneur, although it does cover the basic concepts which you will have to do, but that is enough for you to get you started on your journey.Only issue is that I bought the paperback which says it comes with the free ebook as well, but I can't figure out how to get the ebook. Can anyone tell me how I can access the free ebook please?

An excellent primer
A low-cost user-friendly book which provides an excellent resource to start scientists thinking about bioentrepreneurship and the processes involved in the commercial development of their ideas - specifically starting up a company and attracting investment. Ideal for students and indeed also for academics / researchers who need to make a rapid start up the learning curve. Especially useful should be the lists of websites (e.g. lists of angel investors and websites expanding upon the guidance given in the book).
