Replacement motor for 30 yo 018C
My saw 018C is about 30 years old now. Compression was too low to run. Rather then install new rinds I replaced the motor with this one. It came with the metric replacement hardware. It was well packed and looks well made. It was a perfect fit. The saw fired up without any problems. I let it idle for a few minutes and cool. Repeated a few times before trying it out. It's easy to start, runs good and has decent power. Time will tell how long it will live but for now, I'm happy with the motor.

Works Very Well For MS170 Replacement
This Carbhub MS180 short block replaced the one in my MS170, so now I have a MS180 and it works excellent. I did put a little 2-cycle oil in the crankcase through the exhaust port in order to ensure that the crankshaft and connecting rod were lubber up (this step was probably not needed). I'm glad that the six bolts were provided because the existing bolts would not work. The only issue I had was that I overtightened one of the coil attachment bolts and might have stripped the threads, but it appears to be working still; but if it loosens up, I'll just tap some new threads for a different bolt. My MS170 or now MS180, now works like a new chainsaw.

Complete short block
A vandal put water in my chainsaw gas tank, and the piston and crank were destroyed. This short block was an exact fit, except the bolt threads were different. A trip to the hardware store took care of that. I bought a carb while I was at it and in a couple of hours the saw was running again. I haven't used it extensively so I don't know how it will hold up, but I have no reason to think it won't be fine. The unknown is why the four stars instead of five.

It saved my saw from the land fill
Installed this in a Stihl 180 chain saw that was determined to be not worth repairing due to cost of parts.

These engines don’t run!
Don’t bother. Yes they are cheap but they won’t run even when everything thing attached to them is new too they are a waste of money!

Quality, shipping, price
Being a small engine tech for many years and owning my own shop, I never put cheap parts on. Well, my ms170 finally gave out. If you never bought Stihl factory parts, sit down when you do. The saw new is $199, to rebuild with factory parts would have been over $300. That said, I began looking for a rebuild kit, still expensive. I came across this on Amazon, I figured well, if it works a little while, I'll be ok. After putting it on and prep starting with mix oil in the cylinder, 1 pull and it run. I have to be honest, it runs better than new! I also went from a ms170 short block to a ms180. Don't hesitate to buy, start all your screws before mounting to cut the new threads, put a cap full of mix in the cylinder and turn by hand a a few times. And, my shipping, it came Sat after ordering Fri..... What else could you ask for
