A bit too small, and I have small hands
This mouse is TINY. Just for some reference, I wear a size 4 ring and am female. Also, the thick plastic blister packaging is HORRENDOUS. The plastic cut me as I was trying to rip it out. No bueno.

Good portable wireless mouse
I have used this mouse with 3 different laptops now, including a new Macbook Pro. I have had no problems with it whatsoever!I have not had to adjust the toggle EVER since I bought this unit. The only time I have had any issues is when the battery starts getting weak, and then once the battery is replaced it works perfectly again. Long battery life as well.Yes, it is sort of small, but all laptop mice are small. This feels much better than the Logitech I purchased as a back up when more than one laptop was in use. I switch this one between them rather than use the Logitech, I like it that much.I have carried this in my backpack, and moved it around so many times I cannot count, and I have never had anything happen to make it not work. Not sure why others have had such a difficult time.I am actually getting ready to buy another one so I don't have to switch back and forth between my Mac and Sony laptops. I love this mouse. I have also not had any hand discomfort using it for hours (sometimes up to 10-12 hours) at a time for school stuff. After using this one and going back to my fullsize one for my desktops, the fullsized one feels uncomfortable and clunky. Why not 5 stars? The rubberized coating on the sides where the thumb and last 2 fingers rest started bubbling and coming off. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Best mouse I've ever used
I love this mouse! I got it to go with my laptop, but I almost want to carry it with me and use it any time I'm using one of the three or four other PC's in my life.I like a mouse that has a light click feel. Most better Logitech mice have a good feel and this one matches those. My previous favorite mouse was that old Microsoft white mouse that had the large back-end. . .can't think of the name of it, but it was a ball mouse. The 3000 matches the original Microsoft mouse plus being an optical mouse puts the icing on the cake. The scroll wheel of the 3000 is good, but I've used mice that had a better feel. The size is just right. Compact enough to take along but big enough to use for extended periods.I also like the fact that the USB dongle/plug/transmitter stores in the bottom of the mouse AND when you snap it in the storage slot it cuts off the power so the battery is not continuously drained. Very thoughtful.Need a notebook mouse? Look no furtherEdit: As of August 2009, I don't use this mouse any more. A couple of months ago my Dell Laptop (Inspiron 9400) blue-screened a couple of times and it had never done that before. After a bit of research on the error message, it seems that some USB devices cause a conflict. I didn't go further with the research, but I do know that my laptop never blue screens unless I'm using this mouse. I wish I knew how to correct the problem, because other than that I still like this mouse and miss using it.

Comments from a constant traveler
I'm on the road all the time. As such, I have a lot of assembling powerpoints, working excel spreadsheets, and the like on my tiny little laptop in hotel rooms. The track pad is nice, but after hours and hours on it, my fingers begin to go numb, I miss my targeted cells, and things generally start to go downhill. That's where this tiny little mouse comes into play. I can actually travel with it, and it's pretty darn good at what it does! The good:- Small enough to pop into your travel bag with your laptop, without noticing the size and weight- Cordless. No more tangly mess trying to use the mouse!- Runs on one AA battery. I use an Energizer rechargeable to stay green, and only have to charge it about once a month. Not too shabby.- Works every time, without fail. I love just plugging it in and having it work.- The USB stick stores in the mouse. I don't have to worry about misplacing one or the other. As a bonus, with the stick installed, the mouse won't turn on, preventing battery drain in the bag.The bad:- No battery charge level indicator. Sometimes I forget to charge it, and run out of juice. How depressing.- It's pretty darn small. If you have big hands, it will probably not be the most comfortable mouse you've ever used.

Is working well but short leash
This is a good notebook mouse: Attractive, ergonomically good, responsive, and easy to install. The only issue, as others have noted, is that its range is SHORT. For me, any more than 2 unobstructed feet and the thing doesn't work. For those that always use it with their notebook in typical ways, I guess this is no problem as the usb dongle will always be right there. For me, I often connect the lappy to an external monitor and keyboard, and the usb port is a little far away at times. A little rearranging and I'll muster through but I wish I had a few more feet to work with. My old, now broken wireless rollerball mouse could manage 15 feet at least. Oh well. As I said, for typical use this mouse does the job well.Oh. Some users have complained about jerkiness and unresponsiveness. I suspect this is due to range issues.Update: I noticed that the link between mouse and usb dongle varies greatly depending on what angle the usb dongle presents to the mouse. The dongle has a longer straight side, then a curved end which tapers a little down to the other straight edge. This shorter edge is the one you'd want facing the mouse if you're having range and responsiveness issues. It's also possible to buy a usb extender of just a few inches or several feet if your setup needs it.update April 2013. The left mouse button has worn out.
