Standard of Excellence, Book 1: Theory & History Workbook Staple Bound – January 1, 1993

Now have all three levels of Standard of Excellence, 'Music Theory and History Workbooks'. They teach each subject in a concise way and give quick summaries regarding music history and it's composers. What I liked about this and it's companion Book 2 and 3 is that even at an early stage they give you composition exercises instead of just being a note reader.

My daughter was required to have this book for her 8th grade music class. I had zero issues with its delivery and its quality.

Used in a beginning strings class at the end of the year to see what they learned.Good quiet activity during state testing.

This book is an excellent reinforcement for music theory of any instrument. It uses simple exercises and some puzzles and "games" to strengthen what is being taught. It covers note reading, rhythm, key signatures, intervals, accidentals and music history. This book is ideal for children over the age of 10 and adults.
