On the contrary! Multi colored carrots were the original carrots, until the Dutch hybridized them into the orange color to please their king, and his House of Orange royal family colors. The black and purple strains are higher in anti oxidants than orange or other colors. Of course, since colored carrots became popular, they have been hybridized also to produce higher yield, better color, and more resistance to bugs. Hybridized means cross pollinated, not GMO. GMO is a terrible thing and you are right not to eat anything which has been GMO'ed. Eat these carrots with gusto, as they are very pure. FYI - The purple and black ones taste very good and have bright orange centers - very striking!

Q: Can these be grown in pots?

Yes, make sure the soil is loose and space them out to avoid overcrowding. You will get straight nice carrots like from the market. If the soil compacts they won’t grow straight or won’t grow at all.

Q: Are the seeds separated by type or color?

No they come in every color they so pretty
