Oregon Scientific THGN132N Thermo/Hydro Sensor (Renewed)

I bought this unit to replace a failed Radio Shack private branded version of an indoor/outdoor thermometer/hydrometer. It works better than the OEM version did and synced up in less than a minute. My wife and I live on a small farm and knowing the temperature and humidity at a glance is more than just a convenience. The unit came well-packed and was like new. No plastic sunburn or any trace of battery goo. As new systems cost over $50 for a complete setup, this is a real money saver.

I got this for my BAR208SA weather station. I set it to channel 2. At first I couldn't get it sync up. After some research I found that needed to press and hold UP ARROW and MODE simultaneously for a few seconds to make the station search for a new sensor. After that I got it to connect. These sensors are not very accurate. I put this one in cigar humidor. After a few hours it stabilized as 74.7° temp and 51% rh. That environment would destroy my cigars. My humidor has its own monitors which I trust. It is actually at 72° and 72%. I live about a mile from Dulles airport. The outdoor sensor never matches the reading from the airport. It is close in temperature and way off in humidity, just like this new one. And there is no way that I can see to adjust these units. My cigar humidor's thermometer and hygrometer have a calibration procedure that I can use. These sensors need a procedure too.Well they are close in temperature and that is my primary intended use. But I'm disappointed that RH readings are so bad. That's why I am giving only 3 stars.

The sender will work for a day or two then loose t's signal and have to be reset.

Works just like it was the original sensor! Very happy with it!
