The Paris Concert

"The Paris Concert" is a great 2CD live collection of tracks recorded in one take at a concert in Paris in 2007. The material covers all 4 of the band's studio albums up to that time along with several interesting covers including "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", and "Crosstown Traffic". The band are a rocking, funky, soulful freight train as some of these live versions soar over their studio originals. Of course they are all stellar musicians and get the chance to really stretch out their chops on some of these live versions. Vocalist Cory Glover is in fine form while Reid, Wimbish, and Calhoun tear it up instrumentally. I never understood why Living Colour seemed to fade away from popularity as quickly as they did. This attests to what a great live act they still are and how strong much of their material was.

Though there are some very good moments, I do not feel this represents Living Colour at their best. Lots of energy, but some of Vernon's solos are a bit too frenetic and these versions of some of the tunes are lacking in finesse.

Longtime L.C. fan been waiting for a live album it doesn't disappoint. ....to all L.C. fans i recommend u to check it out!

This imho is one of the best concerts EVER!Living Colour is the epitome of prime musicians in prime form performing a stupendous show.If you are not familiar with this band this CD and DVD is the perfect intro to what rock music should be like.As I always say Living Colour For(4) Life!

Ce live enregistré au New Morning le 20 Juillet 2007 il me semble ( ils ont joué 2 soirs de suite et ont été filmés le 2nd, j'y étais, 2ème rang devant Doug Wimbish + photo d'avant concert !!! et même que je me vois avec ma copine à plusieurs reprises sur le dvd, mais bon vous vous en foutez...)C'est tout simplement une tuerie, le son est cette fois excellent, ce qui faisait défaut à leurs précédents cd live ( CBGB de 1989 : un son un peu brouillon, Dread de 1993 : un peu trop chargé en aigu et super rare mais peu être un des meilleurs cd live avec en plus son set acoustic, at Avalon-Boston de 2004 très court et au son dégueulasse et au CBGB de 2005 un peu mieux ).La set-list est homogène : les 4 albums sont représentés, un inédit, 2 superbes reprises ( Papa was ... et surtout Crosstown Traffic ), un solo très posé "Nova" de Doug Wimbish à la basse figurant sur son album Cinemasonics de 2008 sous le nom "Swirl" et un solo de Will Calhoun à la batterie très technique d'une bonne dizaine de minutes.Pratiquement 2 heures de live, de good vibes, de funk, de rock, de métal et surtout de bonne humeur comme ils l'ont encore prouvé au New Morning le 5 novembre 2008 avec l'élection d'Obama, l'anniversaire de Corey Glover le chanteur ( gâteau à la fin du concert avec happy birthday du public...), c'était de la bombe...( toujours au 2nd rang devant Doug...).N'hésitez pas, achetez ce live cd et même le dvd. Et vivement le nouvel album milieu-fin 2009 !!!!!!!!!NB : Quel sacrilège d'avoir zappé le morceau "Time's Up" qui s'enchainait à le suite de "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" ?!?! Il figure cependant sur le dvd même s'il n'est pas mentionné.
