UPDATE: TWO YEARS ON
UPDATE: Dec. 20, 2019 - I've had this skillet almost two years now, and I've had no serious issues with it. Ceramic coated skillets have a learning curve. They do not behave like aluminum or stainless skillets. The negative reviews bewilder me though. It's so easy to clean with baking soda and a dam sponge. It cooks hot, though and that is important. Never try to fry at 350 degrees. That's too hot. I guess it's not for everyone, but it's perfect for me.***************************************This is a very good ceramic skillet. Everything they said about it is true. Nothing sticks. It heats really fast. After I washed it, out of box, I gave it the acid test - frying eggs. It passed the test with flying colors. Scrambled? It did great. Pancakes, burgers, whatever. It's a great appliance. I'm really glad I ordered it.8/15/18 UPDATE: We (me and the skillet) have been together for six months now and we're still in love. It's not perfect, but neither am I. We're getting along just fine. Once you get to know it, happiness sets in. IMO, it's worth the effort.

I like this electric fry pan
I like this electric fry pan. The surface is very smooth and easy to cook in and clean up afterwards. After reading the instructions on cooking different items the heat temp settings are totally off. I plan on using this fry pan while camping to cook Bacon and eggs outside of the camper. Bacon cooking smell permeates in the RV and we like to cook it outside. I do all of the cooking out side. The instruction manual states, Cook Bacon at 350 degrees and eggs at 325 degrees. The best temp for these items are 250 degree and over-light at around 225 degrees. You should put six strips of bacon in the pan and crank the temp to 275. When the bacon starts cooking flip the strips over regularly to keep the bacon flat. Adjust temp down to keep from burning. My wife and I like bacon served flat out and have no curls. When the fat is a light golden and looks crispy. take out of the pan and soak on paper towels. Use the grease next for cooking the eggs. Turning the heat down slightly. The feature I like about this fry pan is you can regulate the temp. Now you have perfect Bacon and Eggs. This Oster fry pan cooks great.

Understand how an electric skillet works
I don't understand why all the negative posts! If you understand how an electric skillet works you will know that it will always have hot spots. The heating element is just a circle of heat on the bottom of the pan. It will always be hotter where the element is than the rest of the pan. To use the pan properly, keep the heat low (I rarely set it higher than 225 degrees). You must "babysit" the food and keep it moving around the pan. If you want to set it and forget it, don't buy an electric skillet! This is my favorite brand and I just bought another one for the boat! Two years of use...no discoloration, no chipping or peeling off.

I decided to try the ceramic skillet as it was a good price and the right size
I used my nonstick electric skillet all the time. After 15 years of continual use the nonstick finally wore out. Searching for a new skillet in our small area was disappointing as most were either too big or poorly made. I decided to try the ceramic skillet as it was a good price and the right size. This skillet has proved to be very easy to clean and cooks evenly. I don't have a dishwasher so everything is hand washed. I haven't had any staining as some reviews indicate. It may cook a bit quicker but that is a bonus as far as I am concerned. I now only cook for two and this size is perfect for us and for company too. As with most things treat it nicely and it will last. My only complaint is the design does take up a little more shelf room. So far it is an excellent value and at my age it may be the last skillet I need to buy.

Good Electric Skillet
I bought this unit just over a year ago to replace my old Teflon coated unit. After a year of rather frequent and sometimes abusive use (including kids cooking with it) it is still working great! It does have a couple of minor scratches in the ceramic coating (for kids using metal tools!! erg!) and the ceramic has been "stained" in a couple of areas but it still works VERY well and is still mostly non-stick (the scratches do affect the non-stick!). If you have a question regarding this unit please feel free to ask and I will try to answer as I can.

This skillet is great. I've had mine for about 6 months now
This skillet is great. I've had mine for about 6 months now, and aside from a few scratches on the bottom (I use the wrong/metal utensils to move food around so it's my fault) I have no issues. It's perfect for a small apartment. It heats up well, cooks fast and evenly and sauce doesn't pile up on one side (If you have a balanced counter, you're fine, the legs balance thing thing out perfectly). My mom was also impressed with this product, and after cooking on it once lamented that she didn't have one, so I got one for her too and she uses it all the time now over her stainless steel skillet. (this one is SO much easier to clean)

I have to say that I like this skillet
After many years of cooking on low temps with small, plug-in appliances, and Teflon, I have to say that I like this skillet. Yes, it cooks hot. Cook time is short, but then, I happen to like short.Sixty minutes after putting in a dab of butter and breaking some eggs, I haves scrambled eggs. I want to brown some onions and mushrooms for a stew, I can get it done FAST, and I don't have to mess with some "pot" characteristics. I don't know how long it will last, because I have never dealt with ceramic-coated cookware before. I will post again, in a few months. It's new to me, and I like it now. I want to see how it lasts after multiple uses and hand washing. Will try to remember to report back.
